Dave Gorman is bringing Modern Life Is Goodish back after a seven year hiatus – and it’s started in February 2025.

In 2013, comedian Dave Gorman took his brand of observational, PowerPoint based comedy to the small screen in Modern Life Is Goodish for Dave, in which he put varies aspects of 21st century life under the microscope, from queuing at the bar to adverts.

Gorman ended the show after six series in 2017 due to the pressure of the intense workload, putting together six hour long stand up shows and doing the PowerPoint slides to go with it.

However, after a seven year hiatus, Dave, which will soon be rebranded as U&Dave, has confirmed that the show will be back for a sixth series comprising of four hour long episodes.

Update: We now have a transmission date, too. The show will return on 24th February 2025.

The Bear is an FX TV show, streaming on Hulu, that centers around a young chef, Carmen, who takes over the family restaurant when his brother dies. Prior to this, he had been a successful chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant in New York City. Returning to Chicago to run the Original Beef of Chicagoland creates a stark contrast between his past and present. Despite his obvious talent as a chef, star Jeremy Allen White – speaking to W Magazine – says that Carmen is “a fish out of water” in this more casual restaurant. This is made worse by kitchen staff who are reluctant to work and family drama that threatens to boil over at any second.

The Bear cast is made up of talented actors, with many who have been on other successful shows. However, they are largely not huge-name stars, so placing these actors in a grimy kitchen setting might make them harder to recognize.

Tributes are pouring in for Bill Turnbull after it was announced that the veteran broadcaster had died from prostate cancer on Wednesday (31 August).

The former BBC Breakfast presenter’s family confirmed on Thursday (1 September) that Turnbull had “passed away peacefully at his home” after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017.

Piers Morgan honoured Turnbull as “one of the best broadcasters in Britain” in a tribute posted on Twitter.

His tweet read: “Rip Bill Turnbull, 66. One of the best broadcasters in Britain, and such a smart, funny, warm & generous-spirited man.

“Fought his illness with typical stoicism, courage and humour. Bill made presenting live TV look so effortless, which was his great talent. Such sad news.”

Turnbull was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, and had taken a leave of absence from his radio show Classic FM to focus on his health in October last year. However, he returned to the show last month.

When 2021 began, many movie lovers were hopeful April would be the month of the rebound. James Bond was scheduled to (finally) return at the beginning of the month, and Marvel’s Black Widow was waiting at just the end of it. This of course did not happen.

Part of The Mighty Boosh’s delight comes from its unlikelihood as a TV sitcom. Its boundless Day-Glo imagination isn’t an immediate fit with the constraints of the form. A sunshine simpleton and his awkward, jazz-obsessed colleague meet mythic monsters and talking animals while performing expertly observed musical parody? It’s not exactly My Family.

As comedian, writer, and director of Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding’s 1999 Edinburgh show Arctic Boosh, Stewart Lee, put it, “No television exec would ever have gone ‘What we need is a kind of purple head with tentacles coming out of it which speaks like a member of the Small Faces’”.

And yet a television exec did. Granted, probably not in those exact words. After Danny Wallace opened the door...

Get ready for Stephen Falk's universe of narcissists to expand: The You're the Worst showrunner is now developing two more series for FX as part of an overall deal he signed with the network when it renewed Ytw for a third season last week, and he's bringing three of that show's writers along for the ride. One's an untitled semi-autobiographical comedy from Alison Bennett about "an unrelentingly dissatisfied TV writer who returns to her hometown in rural Pennsylvania to live the 'simple life,'" a.k.a. unemployment. Ytw writers Franklin Hardy and Shane Kosakowski are teaming up for Join Me, a comedy based on British writer Danny Wallace's 2003 novel of the same name about unintentionally founding a movement dedicated to random acts of kindness. (In other words, it'll be a spinoff about Edgar's fairy-tale ending.) Falk is set to executive-produce both shows and co-write Bennett's.

As much as I love indie games, it’s been getting harder and harder to keep the flame alive. For a while there, most indies getting released were a variation of two formulas: obtuse puzzlers or dark narratives featuring young/naive protagonists. The glut of obnoxious puzzlers left me wanting something different, which I eventually found in Thomas Was Alone, the debut title from Mike Bithell. Sure, it was a quirky platformer, but it told a fascinating story and featured gorgeous narration from Danny Wallace. Enter Volume, a quirky stealth title from Bithell that tells a vaguely interesting story and once again sports beautiful narration from Wallace.

Marking only his second foray into the gaming world, Bithell has shown that he clearly understands how to make a fun and appealing title. Volume is a step forward in many ways for the developer, working to avoid the pratfalls that pull most artsy-fartsy indie titles down,...

With little more than a handful of brightly-coloured rectangles - and a charming narration by Danny Wallace - Thomas Was Alone emerged as one of the most captivating and absorbing puzzle games of recent years. First appearing as a Flash game way back in 2010, it was overhauled in 2012 and subsequently became an indie hit. If you haven't played Thomas Was Alone yet for some reason, we'd urge you to give it a try.

The developer behind Thomas Was Alone, Mike Bithell, is tackling something rather different for his next game. It's like a cross between Metal Gear Solid and Tron, in that it's a stealth game set in a distinctive-looking virtual world of geometric shapes and intense colours.

Thomas Was Alone developer Mike Bithell has revealed a new trailer for his upcoming stealth-based title Volume, which features Andy Serkis for the very first time as the villainous Guy Gisborne.

Described as the overarching antagonist — a malevolent CEO who just so happens to control England — the voice and motion capture specialist can be heard at the tail end of the video. As for the rest of the footage, Bithell places a big emphasis on the game’s main enemy types, namely the Pawn, the Turret, the Knight, the Rogue, the Hound and the Archer. If you haven’t already guessed, Volume is shaping up to be a modern retelling of the Robin Hood legend. In this instance, Rob Locksley is played by YouTuber Charlie McDonnell with the primary goal set as “Steal. Create. Be heard.”

It's currently being reported that Barkhad Abdi earned just $65,000 (£38,880) for his BAFTA-winning role in the $55 million-budgeted Captain Philips.

Virgin Media Shorts has revealed the winner of this year’s competition.

Nimer Rashed secured the Grand Prize with his film Touch, after being selected by a jury including This is England director Shane Meadows and Spike Island director Mat Whitecross.

Nimer was presented with his prize by Meadows, which includes £30,000 funding towards his next film, at a ceremony at the BFI IMAX in London’s Waterloo hosted by presenter Danny Wallace with afterparty music provided by Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker.

Touch is described as “a poignant reflection on the relationship and love between two people over the course of a life time, told almost entirely through the touch of their hands – from their first connection through to their final farewell.”

Comedian Peter Serafinowicz is set to make his directorial debut on the comedy "I See What You Did There".

The story will revolve around a stand-up who kills a heckler. Unfortunately, that murder is witnessed by his number one fan.

Serafinowicz co-wrote the script with "Yes Man" author Danny Wallace and are finishing it up now. Financing will soon be sought with plans to shoot the project next year.

Kick-Ass 2 should have resurrected Jim Carrey's career. It promised to be the antidote to Carrey's current professional malaise. The public have grown sick of watching him dance with cartoon penguins or conduct wildly age-inappropriate relationships while acting as a weird cinematic representation of Danny Wallace, and he knows it. So signing up for a minor yet indelible role in an edgy ensemble such as Kick-Ass 2 seemed like a masterstroke.

Jonathan Ross has revealed he is on the verge of signing a new deal with ITV.

The presenter has negotiated an extension to The Jonathan Ross Show and will soon begin working on a new project as well for the broadcaster.

"The show won't be finishing after the next series. We're just signing up again now," Ross told The Mirror.

"The latest series was extended from 10 episodes to 20 and we are doing a new run of 15.

"Then I am carrying on with something else on Saturday when the show comes to an end."

Ross, who moved to ITV from the BBC in 2010, will earn an estimated £1 million from the new contract.

Journey, the visual and emotive game that evokes in the player a sense of smallness and wonder to forge an emotional connection between themself and the anonymous players they meet on the way, collected the Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Game Design, Online Multiplayer and Original Music Awards at the British Academy Games Awards, hosted by Dara O’ Briain and supported by official partner Game.

Danny Wallace was awarded with his first BAFTA winning the Performer category for his work as the narrator in Thomas was Alone, the indie puzzle game. The Walking Dead, the episodic point-and-click adventure role-playing game, picked up the Mobile and Handheld and Story BAFTAs. The Unfinished Swan, a game which explores the unknown, collected the Awards for Game Innovation and Debut Game.

It was only Sunday night that I was out standing in the snow and rain at BAFTAs. Just when I thought I had gotten over the show, the video game BAFTAs have crept up on me and released their nominations on me.

Across 17 catagories, Journey has been nominated for 8. As with all the awards this year, The Walking Dead is right on its heels as it looks like the two games are set to slug it out one last time on March 5th.

In one of the most interesting nominations of the year, Far Cry 3 has been nominated for Best Story. This is going to get some stick from some, but not from me. I have been championing that games story and intent since I completed the game. Clearly a few of us Brits had our thinking caps on as we played through the game.

I haven't been able to pick out a particular pattern among this year's Igf nominees in terms of genre or game type--it's a pretty open and diverse field. I will say many of the entries here make me consider heading over to Steam, iTunes, and other handy download services today to catch up on a bunch of under-the-radar titles from 2012 that I missed.

Jon Holmes has insisted he will only play music that he likes on the brand new Xfm Breakfast Show. The comedian and broadcaster, who started hosting the coveted slot today, explained that he is looking forward to playing songs that he enjoys. Holmes exclusively told Digital Spy: "The reason I'm excited to start at Xfm is that they aren't afraid of their own shadow. It's okay to stir things up a bit. "The best bit is that I can play exactly the music I like, so I won't have to play Michael Kiwanuka just because the BBC told me to and pretend to enjoy it." It has been a busy day for authors with three of them finding the film rights to their work being picked up.

Gerald Browne

Amber Entertainment has picked up the rights to three of Browne's heist novels - "19 Purchase Street," "West 47th" and "Stone 588" reports Variety.

"West 47th," set in New York's Diamond District, focuses on a professional recoverer of stolen jewelry and his efforts to regain $6 million in gems taken from an Iranian couple. "Stone 588" is centered a stolen crystal with healing power.

"19 Purchase Street" is set at a New York money-laundering operation as a pair of lovers plot a heist in a tale of greed, murder and revenge. Browne is producing on all three and has penned the screenplays for "19 Purchase Street" and "West 47th."
