James Cotten is an award-winning filmmaker whose multifaceted career spans more than 25 years. A graduate of both the London International Film School and the Los Angeles Film School-where he was inducted into their prestigious Spotlight Academy in 2024-James began his journey when legendary producer Roger Corman selected him to direct Demon Slayer after speaking at his graduation.
James has directed three additional films, including Sugar Creek, La Linea - The Line, a Top 5 Most Rented Movie in America starring Andy Garcia and Ray Liotta, and Painted Woman, which earned him multiple honors including Best Director at the 2019 Manchester International Film Festival.
He has written four produced feature films and acted in seven, sharing the screen with Ashley Judd in Joey Lauren Adams's Come Early Morning.
A proud member of the Producers Guild of America (p.g.a.), James has produced 11 feature films, including the horror-comedy Hansel and Gretel Get Baked (starring Lara Flynn Boyle and Cary Elwes) and Darren Bousman's cult-favorite musical horror The Devil's Carnival.
Beyond directing and producing, James is an accomplished post-production entrepreneur. He has owned and operated two post facilities and boasts more than 50 post producing and VFX producing credits, including Pitch Perfect, Captain Fantastic, and Extraction 2 for the Russo Brothers.
