Bill Mellen was born in Queens, New York and grew up mostly on Long Island, with a brief stint in Northwest New Jersey. Age 23-46 spent in Brooklyn. Then 8 years in Appalachia, 6 in Pennsylvania, and back again to Northwest Jersey for the last 3 years.
Bill started acting at 19, in the theater, and only went pro at the age of 53, acting for the cameras since then. Casting directors have commented on Bill's quiet authority on screen, leading to roles as detectives and other authority figures. Bill has played lawyers, both serious, on TV and film, and humorously in a TV commercial.
