Mary Zophres

Frequently works with Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. The professional partnership began when she worked as an assistant to costume designer, Richard Hornung, on the Coens' film Le grand saut (1994). When Hornung, who was suffering from AIDS, became too ill to work on Fargo (1996), she was asked to replace him. She has designed costumes for almost every Coen brothers' film since, including Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), O' Brother (2000), The barber: l'homme qui n'était pas là (2001), Intolérable cruauté (2003), Ladykillers (2004), No Country for Old Men (2007), Burn After Reading (2008), A Serious Man (2009), True Grit (2010), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) and Ave, César ! (2016).
