John Rester Zodrow has written and produced television movies "All Out"
(Nominated by Writers Guild for Outstanding Script in the category of
Anthology written originally for Television), a western comedy "Kate
Bliss And The Ticker Tape Kid", "Man Against The Mob" (which won an
Edgar) and its sequel "Man In Cement".
Theatrical films include "The Ultimate Thrill" (shot for $400,000 which grossed $10 million), "The Hunter", (no credit per arbitration) starring Steve McQueen (John also discovered Papa Ralph Thorson, the bounty hunter and packaged the film),and "Sun Drops", a Japanese film starring Toshiro Mifune, edited by Akira Kurosawa.
In addition, he has opened on Broadway at the Minskoff theater and is the author of 4 novels: "Bright Green Hell", "In The Name Of The Father" (a best seller), "Vatican Gold", "Sins Of War", plus "All Out", a stage play for high school and college theater.
Currently, his screenplays of "Gangbusters", the true story of Tom Dewey battling Lucky Luciano for control of New York City and "Eunice Carter", the first black woman who rose to become a Federal Judge, have been sold to Warner Brothers and Lifetime.
John has recently completed producing, writing, and directing "Big Guns", a full length Indy comedy about a wacky group of 60-75 year old senior softball players stumbling toward the World Series--which is in distribution.
Next up, "Ya Gotta Believe", a comedy about a bunch of old codgers pressed into playing one game to win back their town-and "Scout", the true story about the founder of the Boy Scouts. John is also adapting his second novel "In The Name Of The Father" into a film entitled "Kingdom Come: Episode I: The Beginning."
