ESRA leads two parallel lives. In her worldly life as a Turkish Berliner in a re-united city, the vivacious and spirited Esra adores her family but feels caged in her relationships and languishes in her job. She clashes with the rules imposed on her and continually feels that something is missing, something is wrong, and there must be something more. In her dream life she yearns to discover the identity of the familiar man who visits her dreams and makes her feel whole. Yet the more she attempts to comprehend her dreams, the more deeply they influence her life. While in waking life she struggles in vain, in her dream life she evolves in secret. But what if waking and dreaming were never separate and the real secret is shared by all? A film inspired by real events...

Tom Zickler (also known as Thomas Zickler) was born in 1964 and is a German film producer based in Berlin, Germany.

Before Zickler studied film production at Germany's well-known film school HFF Babelsberg (1989- 1995), he worked for DEFA (1986 - 1989) - the biggest film studio in the then existing DDR. During his studies, Zickler met actor/producer/writer/director Til Schweiger who became a close friend. Together, they founded their first film production company "Mr. Brown Entertainment". Their first movie Paradis express (1997) was not only a huge success with admissions of more than 3 million but remains a cult favorite with audiences worldwide. Many film projects followed since then, including Der Eisbär (1998).

In 2004, Zickler became the managing director of Til Schweiger's second film production company, Barefoot Films. As partners, they produced many of the most successful movies in Germany: Barfuss (2005) grossed about $7,7 million, Keinohrhasen (2007) was up to 2014 their most successful film and earned some $74 million locally, followed by the sequel Zweiohrküken (2009). Kokowääh (2011) grossed $43 million followed by a sequel that hit theaters in 2013.

The story of Friendship! (2010) is based on Zickler's life, which he produced as well. It was the most successful German movie in 2010.

In December 2014, the family-friendly dramedy Honig im Kopf (2014) was released. It is their most successful film to date breaking the 6, 3 million admissions barrier of their 2007 hit Keinohrhasen (2007), reaching an audience of 7 million.
