Image
New month, new horror recommendations from Deep Cuts Rising. This installment features one random pick as well as four selections reflecting the month of May 2024.

Little does she know, though, the young employee’s predecessor was murdered — and the killer is still on the loose.

Eddy Challenges Ted Bundy's Body Count in this Trailer for #1 Serial Killer
Tagline: "What if your quiet neighbor was Ted Bundy?" Distribution house Indican Pictures has picked up Stanley Yung's (2 Bedroom 1 Bath) #1 Serial Killer. This film, which was previously titled Chink, involves a working Joe going postal. And, Indican Pictures has released the film's first trailer. The clip shows Eddy pushed to the breaking point. As well, the film stars Jason Tobin, Eugenia Yuan, Rane Jameson and Tzi Ma. Fans of indie horror can find the first trailer, exclusively on 28Dla, here. The trailer tells more of #1 Serial Killer's story. The clip shows Eddy constantly humiliated by those around him. Socially awkward, Eddy begins to strategize a violent plan, to get even with everyone. He starts stalking those in his life who have wronged him. Soon, Eddy becomes an unstoppable serial killer. Can he top Ted Bundy's body count? It is likely that #1 Serial Killer will have a release date later this year.

Exclusive: Stanley Yung Talks 2 Bedroom 1 Bath
The latest haunted house horror to burst onto the big screen is 2 Bedroom 1 Bath (review), named so for the typical, banal listing description of an apartment.

It tells the story of Rachel (Michelle Hicks) and Kevin Foster (Andrew W. Walker), a couple who have finally found the ideal home where they can build a future and raise their children. They are hoping it’s a fresh start for their troubled marriage, but as they begin to settle into their new digs, their plans are interrupted by strange occurrences.

As it so happens, director Stanley Yung was inspired by true events when he embarked on this, his first foray into full-on horror. We got a chance to catch up with him at the special event premiere screening of the film, and here’s what he had to say about making a scary movie.

A new trailer and one-sheet have arrived to celebrate the impending theatrical release of Al Bravo Studios and Chemical Mind Studios' new thriller '2 Bedroom 1 Bath'. We must stress that this is in no way connected to the Lionsgate's thriller '2 Br/1 Ba' which stars Alexa Vega ('Machete Kills') and Kathryn Morris even though both titles are concerningly similar. The psychological thriller from writer/director Stanley Yung focuses on a couple whose new 'dream home' isn't quite what they were expecting, particularly highlighted on the new poster by the statment 'Evil Lives Here.' Here's betting that wasn't mentioned on the original listing. The flick stars Michelle Hicks, Andrew W. Walker, Eric Roberts, Costas Mandylor and Dee Wallace. Check out the goods below....

Exclusive: Chink Trailer Teases the First Asian-American Serial Killer
The seasons are changing and it's time for a little more blood and a lot more Asian-Americans on screen. Chink, the feature directorial debut of Stanley Yung, approaches the (perhaps) familiar story of an aspiring serial killer from a new perspective, one that acknowledges the challenges and stereotypes of growing up as a minority in the United States, and then gives that premise a good, hard, subversive shove. From the production notes: Meet Eddy Tsai. He hates being Asian. He's even changed his last name to "Richards" and lies that he was adopted by Caucasian parents. His lifelong dream is to become a serial killer like his hero Ted Bundy ... Eddy, played by Jason Tobin, must work to control his emotions in order...
