Alaska Daily Cast & Character Guide: Where You've Seen The Actors Before
Image
"Alaska Daily" was a crime drama that tackled the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women in Alaska, but it was unfortunately canceled before gaining momentum. The show struggled to balance the sensibilities of a network procedural and a more mature streaming show, but it provided valuable insights into the work of journalists reporting on marginalized communities. The talent of the cast, including Hilary Swank, Jeff Perry, and other notable actors, was undeniable, adding to the potential of the series despite its tonal issues.

The cast of Alaska Daily includes popular television and film actors as well as a notable Oscar winner in its ensemble cast. Alaska Daily is an ABC crime drama that follows Eileen Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank), a New York journalist who comes to a small newsroom in Anchorage, Alaska to have a fresh start after personal and professional problems in NYC force her to leave. In Alaska,...

Dinosaurs Shocking Series Finale Was Always Planned Says Kirk Thatcher
Image
Even though there are many ways to wrap up a series, screenwriters often choose to end their show on a positive note. This is especially true for comedy series, and even more so with the ones that have children as their target audiences. For relatively the short-lived comedy Dinosaurs, however, it was a whole other game. Centered around a prehistoric dinosaur family, the four-season show created by Jim Henson, Michael Jacobs, and Bob Young reached the end of its run on a pretty dark note.

The Donald Trump-‘Dinosaurs’ Mashup You Need to See (Video)
Donald Trump
Donald Trump has inspired a variety of pop culture mashups this election, but perhaps none are more striking than this comparison of the Gop nominee to B.P. Richfield, the resident tyrannical triceratops on ’90s sitcom “Dinosaurs.” YouTuber Matt Orfalea made the case in a new video that he “has stumbled upon the most accurate representation of a Donald Trump presidency in the most unlikely of places,” and proceeded to compare Richfield’s behavior in the live-action puppet series, created by Michael Jacobs and Bob Young, to Trump’s. For those not familiar with the series that ran for four seasons on ABC between.

L.A. Film Fest Review: 'Neil Young Journeys' Is An Exhilarating & Emotional Ride With The Rock Star
Neil Young is a salty dude. Forthcoming, irreverent, introspective, and witty, even as he approaches his mid-sixties, the musician has lost none of his rockability. The man is still writing new songs, for crying out loud, now nearly 50 years after the inception of Buffalo Springfield made him an international sensation. Jonathan Demme’s new rock documentary, “Neil Young Journeys,” is the third collaboration between the director and the musician, following 2006’s “Heart of Gold” and “Trunk Show” in 2009. The two first met when Young was composing the closing song for Demme’s 1993 film, “Philadelphia,” and this trilogy was conceived of not too long after. In this last installment – part concert video, part interview-on-the-go – Young, and his saltiness, are given their full due in an electrifying rock doc that will make you want to stand up and cheer.

This film depicts two kinds of homecomings for Young, and, in so doing,...

In the Works: Returning to Kurelek's Maze
Bob Young and his two sons were lured into making successive films about The Maze artist William Kurelek, reports Bill Desowitz:It's easy to get sucked into The Maze, the surreal and nightmarish Bosch-like painting that Canadian artist William Kurelek (1927-1977) created as a mental patient in England in 1953. Comprised of 17 panels, it's a naked glimpse into his troubled mind. The Maze is so powerful and dynamic, in fact, that it ensnares you more like a movie or graphic novel than a painting. No wonder award-winning director Bob Young (The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez, The Eskimo: Fight for Life) was inspired to document Kurelek's complex life with partner David Grubin for an educational short back in 1969, which has since become a hallmark of ...
