    • Nedrick Young was born on March 23, 1914 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He was an actor and writer, known for La Chaîne (1958), Procès de singe (1960) and Gun Crazy: Le démon des armes (1950). He was married to Elizabeth MacRae and Frances Sage. He died on September 16, 1968 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

  • Served in the US Army during World War II.
  • In between acting and screenwriting, Young was variously employed in a tool firm, as a luggage salesman, a garbage collector and as a bartender for $60 a week (as a writer for Warners he had made ten times that amount!).
  • Won the Oscar for best screenplay (La Chaîne (1958)) under the pseudonymous Nathan E. Douglas after being blacklisted for invoking his Fifth Amendment rights while testifying before the 1953 House Committee on Un-American Activities.
  • In the late 1940s he was an actor under contract to Warner Brothers.
  • Second husband of Elizabeth MacRae.
