Amazing First Look Teaser for 'Mad Cats' - An Upbeat Japanese Film
Image
"Fear the purr." You have to see this!! Check out the first teaser trailer for a film titled Mad Cats, marking the feature directorial debut of Japanese filmmaker Reiki Tsuno. It's premiering at the 2023 Slamdance Film Festival, the alternative version of Sundance that runs in the exact same town during the same week (more info + tickets right here). "No more depressing movies from Japan," is Tsuno's motto for this project. What should have been a young man's emotional journey to find his missing brother turns into a nightmare when he gets embroiled in a monster cats' revenge massacre against evil humans who abused them. Wait, this has monster cats in it?! The indie film stars Sho Mineo, Yuya Matsuura, Ayane, So Yamanaka, and Michael Aaron Stone. Unfortunately there's no shots of any cats in this trailer, but there's plenty of other kick ass glimpses in this upbeat, energetic 30 second tease.

The selections for the Narrative Features and Documentary Features competition categories are directorial debuts without U.S. distribution, with budgets of less than 1 million.

In addition to Slamdance’s opening night film Moby’s “Punk Rock Vegan Movie,” the festival will also showcase two additional Spotlight Feature screenings: “Downwind” and “Free LSD,” which follows one man’s inter-dimensional journey where, after using an experimental drug, he is provided a glimpse into a parallel universe. The film features appearances from Keith Morris and Jack Black.

Jt Petty versus Gen Takahashi for Goth: A Novel Of Horror
Let's start with a simple explanation: Goth is a novel of horror written by Otsu-ich about two high school students fascinated by murder. It's comprised of 6 short stories, and it's also been converted into a Manga. Now herein lies the coming battle. I've never known a teenage boy who wasn't at least a little bit of a sociopath."

As far as we know, Petty's version is still in development. Now on to the next: Japanese director Gen Takahashi is doing his own version and according to IMDb,...
