- Medium. Responsible for the dissemination of Spiritism in Brazil. He wrote more than 400 books, many of them being translated to about 33 different languages, about the doctrine enunciated by French Spiritualist Allan Kardec.
- Francisco Cândido Xavier Brazil's most respected medium, died on June 30 th, 2002, on the same day Brazil won its fifth World Cup, having earlier remarked that he'd like to breathe his last "on a day of national celebration" so his "passing would not bring sorrow".
- Chico Xavier's 14 siblings, eight (8) of them from the marriage of his father, João Cândido Xavier, with his mother, Maria João de Deus: Maria Cândida Xavier (Bita), Maria Luiza Xavier, Maria de Lourdes Xavier, Carmozina Xavier (Zina), José Cândido Xavier, Maria da Conceição Xavier (Tiquinha), Raimundo Cândido Xavier (Mundico) and Geralda Xavier.
- The other six (6) brothers were the fruit of his father's second marriage, who, after the passing of Maria João de Deus, married Dona Cidalia Batista. His six new sblings: Andre Luiz, Lucilia, Neusa, Cidalia, Doralice e João Candido.
