Ariel Winter has left Hollywood.

The 27-year-old actress, who starred as Alex Dunphy on Modern Family, spoke out about her decision to leave Los Angeles in a cover story for People.

During the conversation, she opened up about the scrutiny she faced from the media and the public.

“It was just everywhere,” she recalled.

“It was every headline I read about myself, like, grown people writing articles about me saying how I looked terrible or pregnant or like a fat slut. I mean, I was 14. It totally damaged my self-esteem.”

“I understood what it was like to be hated,” she said.

“No matter what I was going through, I was a target. It made it very difficult to look at myself in the mirror and go, ‘I love this version of me.’”

Ariel also discussed her relationship with her mother, Chrisoula Workman, whom she’s accused of abuse.

Portrayed by Ariel Winter in Modern Family, Alex Dunphy is a character known for her intelligence, competitiveness, and sarcastic nature. While some fans appreciate and relate to her, others find her overly critical or arrogant at times.

Modern Family star Sarah Hyland secured a restraining order against her 24-year-old ex boyfriend Matthew Prokop this past week, Et confirms.

A rep for Hyland, 23, issued a statement to Et, saying, "On September 19, 2014, Ms. Hyland obtained a Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Order against Matthew Prokop. The settlement was reached in the guardianship dispute right before a trial was to commence between Winter, 16, and her mother. Workman stipulated in court that if Winter watched a video montage of family photos before the court adjourned on Monday, she’d stop fighting her wish to shift guardianship to her sister, reported Entertainment Tonight.

Following the montage, a teary Winter and her sister, Grey, exited the courtroom, declining to speak to Workman. In the settlement, Winter is not obliged to visit or speak with her mother.

Back in 2012, Winter was taken from her mother’s home amid allegations that Workman was emotionally and physically abusing her. Gray was subsequently granted temporary custody.

In the continuing drama over who has legal custody over her, Ariel Winter's father has just joined her side.

In documents obtained by TMZ, the "Modern Family" star's father, Glenn, supports her sister Shanelle Workman in her quest to continue to be her younger sister's guardian.

The change is important because previously, Glenn wanted Ariel's mother, Chrystal Workman to regain custody.

As the court proceedings continue, the judge noted that the 15-year-old actress should not be forced to testify due to the possible psychological damage.

The Blackout will be released digitally on Xbox, iTunes, Comcast, Vudu, Hulu, Google Play, Sony Playstation, Amazon, Cox Cable and other regional cable operators on September 3rd.  After that it will be hitting Redbox on September 24th, so there are plenty of opportunities to catch it.

The Blackout is the latest comedy and thriller to be released by actor and director Matt Hish. This title has been picked up by distribution company Uncork'd Entertainment for release this September. The custody battle over Ariel Winter rages on. On Thursday, Aug. 15, the Modern Family actress' older brother, Jimmy Workman, filed documents in L.A. asking the court to remove Winter, 15, from sister Shanelle Gray's care and award custody to him instead, TMZ reports. According to the site, Workman says in the papers that Gray is a bad role model who "exploits Ariel's fame and money to promote her acting school." Dealing with some serious family drama at a young age, the plot has thickened in Ariel Winter's custody case as another family member is stepping up.

While the custody battle rages between the "Modern Family" star's mother and her older sister, Shanelle Gray (who currently has temporary custody), her brother has filed his own motion.

An actor himself, who played Pugsley Addams in the most recent "Addams Family" movies, Jimmy Workman claims he would be a more suitable guardian for the child star.

Allegations against Ariel's older sister include that she sexualizes the child, exploits her fame to promote her own acting school, and has a history with drugs.

Further, Workman claims Shanelle is having her younger sister spend gobs of money on a party lifestyle.

In response, Shalle's attorney Mike Kretzmer tells TMZ, "The allegations are nothing new. We will handle them in court. Shanelle has taken excellent care of Ariel to date.

Making the most of her weekend off, Ariel Winter showed up at the Studio City Farmers Market yesterday afternoon (April 7).

Joined by her sister Shanelle Gray and nieces Skylar and Parker, the “Modern Family” starlet indulged her sweet tooth with an icy cool treat while shutterbugs looked on.

And of course, Ariel was dressed in some darling designer duds, including a floral print blue dress, wedge heels, and some sassy sunglasses.

It was great to see Ms. Winter in such good spirits, especially considering the bitter custody battle that’s been ongoing for months, wherein her mother Chrisoula Workman was relieved of her guardianship of Ariel due to improper treatment. The case goes back to court in October.

After a few months of being in her sister's court-ordered care, the family drama for Ariel Winter is starting back up.

According to People magazine, on Friday (March 29) it was revealed that the young "Modern Family" star's guardianship case will be headed for trial in October to see if her mother, Chrisoula Workman, should regain custody.

During a hearing yesterday, Winter's attorney spoke about the family's therapy sessions, saying, "It's a work in progress," and adding, "There's been no advancement in terms of reunification."

However, an attorney for Workman is claiming that the 14-year-old actress is refusing to meet with her mom in therapy and says there has been no visitation between the mother and daughter at this time.

As previously reported by GossipCenter, a custody agreement was reached back in December when it was ordered that Ariel stay in the care of her sister, Shanelle Gray, until this point.

Using her major leverage from the show's popularity, Ariel Winter will get a big pay raise from "Modern Family."

According to E! News, the 15-year-old actress is set to take home $6 million for her work.

In a document obtained by the network, the delay for renegotiation was explained as follows: "The minor's professional career was protected from chronic and unwarranted interference by the mother which had prevented the minor's execution of a renegotiated contract for her starring role in the television sitcom, 'Modern Family,' which contract has a value in excess of $6,000,000."

Apparently the trouble stemmed from the guardianship battle between Ariel's sister, Shanelle Gray, and her mother, Chrisoula Workman.

Currently, the star's sis serves as her guardian, but does not have access to her money, telling the court that her "sole interest has been insuring my sister's well-being, free from my mother's unwarranted interference and unacceptable behaviors towards Ariel.

Modern Family is showing one of its stars the money. Ariel Winter has renegotiated her contract with the hit ABC sitcom, scoring $6 million, according to court documents obtained by E! News.
