I firmly believe that The Buccaneers Season 3 needs to justify and answer a few questions in the next plot. Season 2 leaves us on a note that makes us clinch our fists in the hopes that everything aligns well. But, of course, how will the show progress if not left as an untold story? The show has by far done good with the ratings, and we hope that it continues as high as it can.

Emma Thompson is returning to Jane Austen territory with “Becoming Meg Dashwood,” an Audible original scheduled for release on 6 October 2025, three decades after her Oscar-winning 1995 screenplay of “Sense and Sensibility.” The actor-writer will voice an adult Margaret Dashwood and serve as executive producer, reuniting with Imelda Staunton, who lends her celebrated wit to Mrs Jennings.
Rebecca Humphries’ script follows Margaret as she escapes cottage respectability for London’s underground salons, meeting characters played by Naomi Ackie, Erin Doherty, Jessica Gunning and Liz Carr; Greg Wise, Thompson’s partner on and off screen, appears as Dr Keats.
Bat For Lashes’ Natasha Khan supplies an electronic-inflected score, while director Jo Tyabji builds what Audible bills as a “riotous, rebellious period drama about female friendship, sexuality and liberation.” Thompson said the narrative “takes us from Austen’s world into the hidden parts of women’s lives … giving one of her characters a future and a big,...

After recently finding the eldest Dashwood sisters, Focus Features' hotly anticipated adaptation of Jane Austen's debut novel, Sense and Sensibility, is quickly ramping up. Filming has officially begun in the U.K. under the direction of Georgia Oakley, and the rest of the cast members who will join Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles in the romance feature have been unveiled. We now know who the feature's John Willoughby and Colonel Brandon will be, with Frank Dillane and Herbert Nordrum taking up the roles of the dashing suitors. Caitríona Balfe, George MacKay, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, and Fiona Shaw will round out the bunch.

Apple TV+’s The Buccaneers has taken the period drama by storm, establishing itself as one of the boldest shows of the genre. Despite being historically accurate with regards to the rule-bound high society of London, it rejects the conventions that obstructed it from pushing the limits of storytelling. This unique blend of mixing tradition with contemporary ideas has made Season 1 a rebel that has left some people scratching their heads.
With Season 2 of the show here, people are excited to watch it. Well, the plot and cast definitely have a big part in it. Moreover, to expand its reach, the Apple TV+ Original has found a temporary shelter in Prime Video. With that being said, the real question remains: When can we stream it?

After annoying James Seadown tells Theo about Guy and Nan's night together in episode 2, there's no hiding the truth now. That's clear in The Buccaneers season 3 episode 3, "Get Her Out." While there are birthday celebrations and even a proposal, the show of course gives us some juicy drama as well. Here's a recap of the episode on Apple TV+. Spoilers below.
The Buccaneers season 2 on Apple TV+ Theo learns the full truth
The episode begins with Theo and Nan's conversation, and him asking her whether she did really spend the night with Guy. She confesses that she did and the reason she married him was due to his powerful position to protect her sister, Jinny. Yikes, that is not something you want to hear. However, Nan doesn't tell him about his mother's involvement in the matter.
Of course he's rightfully hurt, and wants to find a way to get Nan...

To declare a subject a “genius” in a title is a bold opening move. Jane Austen: Rise of a Genius arrives timed for the 250th anniversary of its subject’s birth, positioning itself not just as a biography but as a definitive cultural statement.
This three-part series aims to dismantle the stuffy, tea-and-doilies image of Austen, reassembling her for a contemporary audience as a sharp-witted social critic and a revolutionary force in literature. The program’s ambition is clear: to move beyond the familiar romance plots and investigate the mechanics of a mind that permanently altered the novel form.
It sets out on a comprehensive exploration of her life, her meticulously crafted work, and her creative process. The project undertakes the significant task of explaining why Austen’s contributions from two centuries ago continue to feel immediate and vital in the modern world.

Georgia Oakley, the BAFTA-nominated filmmaker behind Blue Jean, is taking on one of the most beloved titles in the British literary canon: Sense and Sensibility. Oakley will direct a new adaptation of the classic Jane Austen novel — a bold assignment that follows in the formidable footsteps of Ang Lee, Emma Thompson, and the 1995 masterpiece that earned Thompson an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. It was also announced that Daisy Edgar-Joneswould be starring as the eldest Dashwood sister, Elinor, previously played by Thompson. No casting for Marianne has been set at this time.
It's a major move for Oakley, whose 2022 feature debut Blue Jean won critical acclaim for its grounded, emotionally intimate storytelling. The film told the story of a closeted lesbian gym teacher navigating the anti-lgbtq laws of 1980s Britain, and drew huge and widespread acclaim, with particular praise being directed at the way Oakley told the story, as well...

At long last, Season 2 of The Buccaneers is almost here on Apple TV+ to pick up with the titular young American women after their explosion onto the scene in Gilded Age London back in 2023. Although things began in high spirits as the ambitious and extroverted friends navigated English high society and courted suitors, the Season 1 finale left things on a bleak note, with each of the women forced to accept a reality they did not desire. Chief among them is Nan (Kristine Frøseth), who marries a man she doesn't love to become the Duchess of Tintagel, the most influential woman in the country, to protect her sister, Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse), from the wrath of her abusive husband. Collider now has an exclusive sneak peek from the premiere showing how Nan is dealing with the fallout of giving up the rest of her life with a little support from Conchita (Alisha Boe...

Apple TV+'s newest adaptation of The Buccaneers has already impressed in its first outing, and here's what we know about the second season. Based on the eponymous Edith Wharton novel which was published posthumously, the story follows a group of American women during the 1870s who travel to England in order to secure wealthy husbands. Intentionally anachronistic and playful, The Buccaneers used Wharton's novel as a framework for yet another period dramedy. The clash of cultures takes center stage, and it offers commentary on the repressive elements of contemporary culture.
Throughout its first season, The Buccaneers has received high marks from critics who praised its over-the-top and anachronistic execution, and its feminist message (via Rotten Tomatoes). Despite its critical success and its obvious originality, The Buccaneers lives in the shadow of shows like Bridgerton which helped to spearhead the modern period piece movement that has focused on rewriting history through playful inaccuracy.

Helena Bonham Carter is a name synonymous with eccentricity, bold outfits, and a penchant for quirky roles. But her personal life, too, has been no less dramatic, filled with its own twists and turns. One particularly colorful chapter began in 1994 when she became romantically involved with Kenneth Branagh on the set of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

How the tragic death of his beloved sister, Clare, gave Greg Wise a new outlook on navigating the end of life
Stepping inside Greg Wise’s home on a wet and windy day, he bursts into host mode. A cappuccino is made, pastries are served and – on noticing I’m a bit rain-lashed – a crackling fire is built. It’s incredibly homely, this place he shares with his wife, Emma Thompson. The kitchen is a riot of dangling pans, the living area is populated with fabric animals, and there’s a huge, inviting sofa to sink into – although Wise prefers not to use it. Things couldn’t be more cosy, which perhaps makes it all the stranger that we’re about to embark on an hour-long chat about death.

“The Crown” series finale premiere in London on Tuesday evening brought out the cast and creatives behind the hit Netflix show as well as a smattering of other familiar faces keen to catch a sneak peek of the last-ever episode.
Imelda Staunton, who plays the last iteration of Queen Elizabeth II in the fifth and sixth seasons of the series, led the red carpet. Despite the chaos around her — from reporters clamoring to ask questions to photographers shouting her name — the star told Variety her focus had always been on the character.
“I don’t look at maelstrom,” she said. “It doesn’t interest me. I just look at the script, look at the part, go to work.”
Newcomer Meg Bellamy, who joined the series as a college-age Kate Middleton for Season 6, was more emotional about getting the part, which also happened to be her first ever professional acting job.

Emma Thompson has said that she made herself “seriously ill” while campaigning for the Oscars.
The British actor is the only person to win an Oscar in both acting and screenwriting categories; the former for Howard’s End in 1992 and the latter for Sense and Sensibility in 1995.
But in a new interview, Thompson admitted that she’d “really hated” campaigning for the awards.
“I get very distraught and actually, both times I had to do the Oscars I got ill, quite seriously ill, before and during it,” she told the Radio Times podcast. “I just found the pressure of it too much, the glare too much. It’s not something I like very much.

Emma Thompson revealed that she was “utterly blind” to her ex-husband Kenneth Branagh’s affairs with actresses like Helena Bonham Carter.
“I was utterly, utterly blind to the fact that he had relationships with other women on set,” she told The New Yorker. “What I learned was how easy it is to be blinded by your own desire to deceive yourself.”
Thompson and Branagh first met on the set of the series Fortunes of War, and they were married from 1989 to 1995. In 1994, Branagh began a relationship with Bonham Carter while they filmed the Frankenstein movie together.

To make matters even messier, Bonham Carter and Thompson had previously worked together in 1992 on their film, Howards End.
Branagh’s relationships with other women and the end of their marriage understandably took a huge toll on Thompson’s mental health after the fact.

To make matters even messier, Bonham Carter and Thompson had previously worked together in 1992 on their film, Howards End.

Emma Thompson has said she was “utterly, utterly blind” to the fact Kenneth Branagh was having an affair with Helena Bonham Carter.
Thompson, 63, and Branagh, 61, met in 1987 when filming the series Fortunes of War. They were married two years later in 1989.
The couple divorced in 1995. It emerged that Branagh had been having an affair with Harry Potter star Helena Bonham Carter, 56, who he had starred opposite in his 1994 film Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
In an interview with The New Yorker, Thompson reflected on the filming of Sense and Sensibility, for which she won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
While shooting the film in 1995, the actor’s marriage to Branagh had ended. They had not yet made news of their split public.
The New Yorker writer states that Thompson was “humiliated, in part by her own stupidity” by the affair Branagh had with Carter.

We’ve become so inundated with complicated affairs and who said what and why that we have lost the power of a simple longing glance or the passing brush of a hand- and Effie Gray is sure to awaken your senses once again. Written by the imitable Emma Thompson and directed by celebrated Richard Laxton, watching Effie Gray feels like walking hand in hand with both madness and the titular character, the newly Mrs. John Ruskin. Writer-director Emily Harris’s version of Le Fanu’s vampire novella adds a feminist focus on repression but sparks don’t fly
This revisionist adaptation of Sheridan Le Fanu’s 1871 vampire novella joins Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights and Lady Macbeth in the newish tradition of bonnet-free literary adaptations: modern-feeling period films abandoning coy glances for earthy passions and marriage fantasy fulfilment for a harsher portrait of domestic life for women in the past. Le Fanu’s book was the inspiration for Dracula’s harloty wives in the 70s Hammer films, but with a new-school feminist spin writer-director Emily Harris strips away the vampirism to focus on sexuality and repression. It’s a smart move, but her creepily atmospheric film is let down by some awkward dialogue and a weirdly bloodless lack of intimacy.

While the favorites for the Drama Guest Actor Emmy contain a bevy of former Emmy winners, one of the leading contenders has yet to win his first golden trophy.
For decades, renowned British actor Charles Dance has been a familiar face on American television screens, particularly for his dastardly turn on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” Having achieved fame onstage with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Dance achieved worldwide acclaim as Sgt. Guy Perron in the television miniseries “The Jewel in the Crown,” considered by many critics and viewers at the time to be the gold standard among miniseries. “Jewel” is merely one of the highlights in Dance’s four-decade career in film and television, the most notorious credit being his portrayal of Tywin Lannister, who was ignominiously killed by his dwarf son Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) while sitting on the toilet in “Game of Thrones.”
