Netflix’s Brick (2025), directed by Philip Koch and starring Matthias Schweighöfer, Ruby O. Fee, and Frederick Lau, is a claustrophobic escape-room-styled thriller. The story revolves around a distant couple, Tim and Liv, who wake up to find their entire building mysteriously sealed in by impenetrable black walls overnight. As they dig deeper (both literally and metaphorically), they uncover a government glitch, a deranged conspiracy theorist, and a series of fatal consequences. While the film doesn’t break new ground in terms of genre innovation, it delivers a tense, compact experience that’s perfect for viewers who enjoy contained thrillers with high-stakes drama and a mystery at the core.
If Brick piqued your interest, you’re likely craving more stories of people trapped in surreal, high-concept scenarios — stories that explore survival, systems of control, psychological strain, and sci-fi paranoia. Below are 7 movies like Brick on Netflix and beyond, each echoing its...

With the release of James Gunn's Supermanofficially pushing his Dcu forward, some are looking back at those who last brought certain DC Comic characters to life. Gunn has previously confirmed that he is working on a Wonder Woman-related projects and that Matt Reeves' Batman is not a part of his universe, likely meaning he's looking for both someone to fill the shoes of Diana Prince and Bruce Wayne. That also leaves a wide berth for the rest of the Dcu, even after the healthy dose of new characters debuting in Superman. Looking back, other DC-related projects includeBirds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The 2020 film followed Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn (after previously starring as her in Suicide Squad) and brought to life one of the lesser known DC Comic teams (as opposed to say The Justice League or Justice Society of America). Yesterday, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn revealed that Dcu "projects from Korea, Japan, and Brazil" are currently in development. Though he didn't elaborate, it was generally assumed that the Korean project he's referring to is the Huntress movie we first heard about back in 2023.
At the time, reports indicated that the film was moving forward with South Korean filmmaker and screenwriter Jung Byung-gil in talks to write and direct, and a rumor that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star Pom Klementieff might be in talks to play the lead did the rounds shortly after.
Nexus Point News has now shared some new details on these international projects, and the site believes that Klementieff - who has Korean heritage - is still attached to play Helena Bertinelli, who will be "depicted as half-Korean and half-Italian."
If you only know her from the Gotg movies, Klementieff might seem like an odd pick to play Huntress,...

The Huntress is reportedly returning to the DC Universe, but with a catch. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will not be reprising the role from Birds of Prey for the Dcu, with one of James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy stars instead expected to portray the superhero.

Now, according to Nexus Point News, the intention is for Pom Klementieff to star in the Korean-language series, which would be centered around Helena Bertinelli/The Huntress. In an interview with ComicBook.com, the actress didn't share much on what's to come for Ahsoka Season 2 other than the fact that everyone on set is giving it their all and will honor the story the series has established, as well as more epic battles that she and the rest of the Ahsoka team are excited for the fans to see.

How One Twist In Final Destination 3 Could Have Changed The Franchise! (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Spoiler Alert: The following article discusses major plot points from Final Destination 3 and Final Destination: Bloodlines.
Final Destination 3 nearly threw fans a curveball that could’ve flipped the franchise on its head. While the third installment stuck close to the deadly blueprint, vision, escape, then Death playing catch-up, it almost took a sharp left turn right at the end.
Instead of leaving us with that subway crash tease, the original ending would’ve dropped a bombshell: cameos from two Final Destination 2 survivors, Kimberly (Aj Cook) and Officer Burke (Michael Landes). So, what went wrong? According to producer Craig Perry (per Digital Spy), they had the plan in place. They even wrote it out, and one of the two actors was ready to go

More often than not, these remakes merely take away the uniqueness, the endless imagination and possibilities, and the exquisite visual styles of their source material and reduce them to bland, visually uninteresting live-action movies without personality. Even the best ones struggle to reach the heights of their animated counterparts.
Sure, their continued existence makes sense commercially, but creatively every studio in Hollywood is going about things all wrong here. Why turn great animated movies into dull live-action slop when you could just turn an already fantastic live-action project into an even better animated one? Megan Fox has taken on plenty of iconic roles over the years, but one film she came close to starring in has returned to streaming charts over 20 years later. Fox was one of the many names considered for the role of Karen in Mean Girls, the 2004 cult classic led by Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams. The part of Karen ultimately went to Amanda Seyfried, who almost played McAdams’ iconic Regina George. Mean Girls was released in 2004, and the film has since returned to streaming charts on Paramount+, sitting at #4 at the time of writing. Mean Girls earned a “certified fresh” 84% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 66% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. It also grossed $130 million at the box office against a modest budget of only $17 million.

HBO Max has all five ‘Final Destination’ films and a bunch more horror picks worth queuing up right now.
I haven’t seen “Final Destination: Bloodlines” yet, but I’m planning to — especially with all the hype around it. The movie has already pulled in over $187 million worldwide, and a lot of people are saying it might be the best one in the whole “Final Destination” franchise. That got me back into the series, and lucky for me (and you), every “Final Destination” movie is streaming on HBO Max. These are the perfect horror movies for me because I have no trouble handling gore, and there’s no terrifying figure to keep me up at night. Instead, it’s everyday objects that become the things of nightmares. With “Final Destination: Bloodlines” killing in theaters, it got me thinking… what other horror gems are hiding on HBO Max? There’s no other franchise quite like Final Destination. Having spanned three decades, the series has been shockingly consistent. And I’m not talking about how, outside of the newest, they all released within three years of each other. This had a creative consistency you rarely see within the horror genre. The best entries can add extra layers to the mythology, without stepping on the toes of its predecessors. There’s a respect for the past, while still acknowledging that they have to take the series into the modern day. It’s been quite the impressive sight to behold, and I’m so excited that the series is back and as strong as ever!

Talk about a dead reckoning. For 25 years now, the Final Destination franchise has been dealing out elaborate demises with maximum splatter – depicting some of the greatest disaster sequences in cinema history, before teeing up playful Rube Goldberg-style kills for the seemingly lucky survivors. And capital-‘d’ Death isn’t done yet – the series has returned with Final Destination Bloodlines, dishing up a fresh batch of murderous mayhem. So what better time to look over the gore-strewn entrails of one of the most entertaining horror series around, and see which comes in at the top of the pile-up?

This article contains mild spoilers for "Final Destination Bloodlines."
After 14 long years of waiting, the beloved Rube Goldberg machine-inspired horror franchise has added some more tallies to Death's scoreboard with "Final Destination Bloodlines." The sixth entry in the series is arguably the best it's ever been, a bloody fun time from start to finish with an unexpected amount of heart. The movie works exceptionally well because everyone involved very clearly understands what it is that makes audiences return to the series time and again, including the marketing team, who have promotional logging trucks driving around Los Angeles. With a screenplay from Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor with Jon Watts of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Skeleton Crew" fame boasting a "story by" credit, "Bloodlines" is directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, who earned their jobs in the most "Final Destination" way possible.

The Dceu began with ambitious plans to match the success of the MCU, with Warner Bros. aiming to bring iconic DC characters to the big screen over a decade. Despite financial success, Snyder’s darker vision for the characters didn’t resonate with audiences, leading to the eventual reboot with James Gunn’s Dcu. While some Dceu films were well-received, others were considered significant flops.
Fans have compiled their picks for the 10 worst Dceu movies. Let’s dive into their selections.
10. ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021)
After the mixed reception of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad (2016), expectations were high for James Gunn’s take on the franchise. However, some fans were disappointed as the film didn’t meet their expectations or align with their preferences. Gunn’s signature irreverent humor and over-the-top style, which were successful in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, didn’t resonate with everyone, contributing to its place in the “top 10 worst” rankings.

Death always finds a way.
This was the central conceit of “Final Destination,” a 2000 horror movie, released just past the slasher movie renaissance that began with “Scream” in 1995, that went on to have a uniquely satisfying run all its own. Each movie starts with a group of strangers narrowly avoiding calamity, with the rest of the runtime filled with death eagerly hunting them through ingenious accidents. The latest film, “Final Destination Bloodlines,” was originally earmarked for a streaming debut but has mercifully shifted into a theatrical event – the kind of movie that you laugh and scream along with a packed auditorium full of similarly anxious strangers.

Death has a design, and it includes you watching "Final Destination Bloodlines" before reading this article, as there are heavy spoilers ahead.
"Final Destination" is one of the most underrated horror franchises out there. Sure, it isn't as influential as some of the heavier hitters, but with the low number of entries comes a higher batting average. Even the worst of the "Final Destination" movies still has some great kills and novel concepts for the franchise. Indeed, what makes this horror series stand out is how inventive it is, taking a rather simple concept and constantly exploring new aspects of it.
There is no iconic villain like Freddy or Michael Myers here, but that's because the kills themselves stay with you in a way few kills in other franchises do. There's no need for a memorable singular villain when you can traumatize an entire generation into not driving behind a...

Margaret Qualley was originally set to star in the psychological horror-thriller Victorian Psycho, but she dropped out of the project earlier this year, just before production was slated to begin. Deadline reports that a replacement has now been found. Maika Monroe (Longlegs) has stepped up to star in Victorian Psycho.
Victorian Psycho takes place in 1858, with Monroe playing Winifred Notty, a young, eccentric governess who “arrives at the remote gothic manor known as Ensor House. Her responsibilities include teaching the children table manners and educating them about their family’s history, all whilst hiding her psychopathic tendencies. As Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there is something amiss about their new governess.” Zachary Wigon (Sanctuary) will direct from a script by Virginia Feito, which is based on her novel of the same name.

Plenty of legacy sequels have attempted to bring back past franchises with a more modern sensibility, but only a few have had more than one “second chance,” and it’s pretty fitting that Final Destination is one of those series that keeps cheating death. Final Destination Bloodlines, the second revival of the 2000s horror franchise, is a glorious return to form, offering plenty of laughs and a ton of twisted mayhem — precisely what audiences want from these films.
Final Destination Bloodlines Review
With a story by Jon Watts (the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy), Guy Busick (the new Scream movies), and Lori Evans Taylor, Final Destination Bloodlines offers an interesting twist on the familiar formula — after a group of people “cheated Death” by surviving a would-be tragic accident when someone has a premonition, they find themselves dying in increasingly peculiar ways. After sitting out the sequel Final Destination 2, original Final Destination director/co-writer James Wong and co-writer Glen Morgan returned for the series’ roller coaster of a third installment, Final Destination 3. This time, the sequel would operate as a standalone set six years after the first film.
Final Destination 3 may feel smaller in scale based on the catastrophe that sets Death’s design in motion, but Wong and Morgan inject new ideas and slight twists to the well-established formula. That includes how high school student Wendy Christensen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) picks up on Death’s clues and the kill order through photographs she took on the ill-fated day.
Final Destination 3 also escalates the stakes in the grand finale with a second full-blown mass casualty event, one that hits closer to home for many compared to the memorable amusement park opening. The third installment is also the first...

The franchise carved for itself a unique niche in the horror genre, redefining the genre with its unique premise of ordinary individuals cheating death. Ever since its debut, the franchise has captivated audiences with heart-pounding suspense, jaw-dropping death sequences, and a haunting exploration of fate’s inescapable grip. Each installment thus keeps building on its core concept, making fans return.
So far, the franchise has spawned six Final Destination movies, starring a range of actors and following the same narrative of a group of people trying to escape death after a premonition, only to be hunted by Death itself through a series of elaborate and brutal accidents.

With Final Destination: Bloodlines set to drop on May 14 and 16 (UK and US respectively), the franchise that made us fear tanning beds, gym equipment, and even eye surgery is about to haunt a whole new generation of horror fans. But before we get pulled into another intricate web of premonitions and impalements, it’s time to look back at the franchise’s most gnarly legacy… its gloriously creative, stomach-churning death scenes.
Since 2000, the Final Destination series has perfected a very specific kind of horror: the kind that makes you clench up the next time you’re near a nail gun or cross a suspension bridge. These aren’t just kills, they’re miniature set pieces, choreographed with absurd attention to cause and effect. Part slasher, part disaster film, part karmic punishment, the franchise has turned death into a slinking, unseen force that gets increasingly imaginative (and sadistic) with every movie.

Comics, for decades, have been an integral mainstay of popular literature. Though often undermined and unappreciated by many, superheroes and many others have touched the lives of millions through the pages of their colourful worlds. It’s been a long, strange journey for the comic book genre, and its path to cinematic success was equally challenging. We’ve seen Richard Donner’s “Superman” prove to the world in 1978 that there was, indeed, an audience for live-action superhero flicks, and then Tim Burton would reassure that notion again in 1989, with his groundbreaking blockbuster “Batman”. Then, of course, any ounce of progress that comics had made in the film industry was utterly destroyed and denounced upon release of the 1997 abomination that is “Batman and Robin”.
With help from “Blade” and “X-Men”, followed by Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” in 2002 and Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins” in 2005, comic books had reclaimed their spot amongst...

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Tolman was asked about her time on Fargo, and she spoke about it fondly but also recalled how difficult it was to stand on the sidelines after departing the show:

It’s been 20 years since Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain moseyed into theaters. The highly-celebrated film, which depicts the unexpected relationship between two young cowboys, won three Oscars at the 2006 Academy Awards and remains a classic take on Western romance in cinema. To honor the film’s legacy, Focus Features is re-releasing the emotionally charged film in theaters for special screenings starting on June 22 and 25.
Brokeback Mountain premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2005, earning acclaim from audiences before its wide release. Many consider it a barrier-shattering release, as it spoke to various viewers and critics. The film revolves around Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), two young cowboys working at the picturesque sheep herding locale, Brokeback Mountain, who discover a deep and abiding love for one another that lasts a lifetime. Lee’s film became a critical and commercial success upon release, with a $178M global take.

In many ways, Ahsoka served as a live-action fifth season of Star Wars Rebels, and season 2 looks set to introduce even more elements from the fan-favorite animated series, with Zeb Orrelios (presumably voiced by Steve Blum) set to join Ezra (Eman Esfandi), Hera (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Chopper the droid as the Og crew of The Ghost.

We got a glimpse of what to expect from Ahsoka season 2 at the Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo, Japan. Rosario Dawson, who plays the titular character, joined showrunners Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau on the Live! Stage and discussed, among other things, the stories and characters of the second season.
Filoni announced that they will start filming season 2 in a week. Before Filoni delved into more details, Dawson confirmed that Hayden Christensen was returning as Anakin Skywalker. She reminisced about being in acting school with Christensen (which was also attended by Scarlett Johansson) and how naturally their real-life longtime friendship translated on the screen as everyone's beloved Skyguy and Snips.
However, Filoni made it very clear that he was not trying to tell more stories about Anakin. His inclusion in Ahsoka stems entirely from him being her former master.
"A very clear line I draw for myself is that Anakin's story was already told.

The Star Wars Celebration event in Japan dropped tons of big news for fans of the sci-fi franchise. A Darth Maul animated series was announced along with other animated series, Star Wars: Starfighter, Shawn Levy's movie starring Ryan Gosling was announced, and more.
On top of that, Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau spent a significant amount of time talking about the second season of Ahsoka. Exciting news included the returns of several characters, including the return of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker.
However, the most exciting revelations regarding Ahsoka season two come in the form of story details from Dave Filoni. It sounds like this season will feature even more action than the first season. Filoni said the first half of the season will feature an “all out” war.
“I'll just say what it is ‘cause they came all this way, and I know what they really want to...

This article contains spoilers for every "Final Destination" movie.
For over 25 years, the "Final Destination" series has instilled a very special fear of death with audiences. Everyone meets their end at some point or another, but these movies take perverse pleasure in showing all of the grisly manners it can manifest. Unlike other horror franchises like "Friday the 13th" or "Scream," where you can physically see the killer coming toward you, in the world of "Final Destination," Death can take the form of just about anything. All it takes is a loose screw, a curling iron, or a creep with a box full of hook hands to get the ball rolling.
It's very fitting for a franchise about a deadly omniscient presence to make you anxious of your surroundings at all times. But try as they might, the characters in every "Final Destination" usually meet a grisly end one way or another.
