  • Grew up in Africa in the 60's in what was then the Federation of Northern and Southern Rhodesia. Lived in the small copper-mining town of Luanshya in Northern Rhodesia but attended Peterhouse, the prestigious public school in Southern Rhodesia.
  • Known to be a friendly and colorful person off screen, unlike some of the characters he's played.
  • Before becoming an actor he worked as a stage hand at London's Prince of Wales Theatre during the West End run of a variety show entitled 'Way Out In Piccadilly' starring Frankie Howerd and Cilla Black. (1966)
  • Worked for director Martin Campbell on three separate occasions - "Walter Merek" in Absolom 2022 (1994), "Royce Garrett" in Vertical Limit (2000) and "Don Raphael Montero" in Le Masque de Zorro (1998) - and, in all three movies, his character was killed off by falling from a great height.
  • First-ever stage appearance was in 1964 at a boarding school in Africa, in an outdoor production of "A Man For All Seasons", by Robert Bolt, in which he played the part of "The Common Man".
  • Whilst at RADA in 1969 received the Bancroft Gold Medal for his performance as Richard III.
  • Has 3 children - Miranda, Liam and India.
  • Became an Associate Member of RADA.
  • Considered for the role of Roger Derebridge in Lifeforce(1985).
