How General Hospital’s Cameron Mathison Got His Start in Soaps
Image
Drew’s actions on General Hospital have most of Port Charles up in arms. However, they’re not the only ones. Gh fans were also taken aback by his drastic change into a rather nefarious character. But the viewers know full well that Drew is just a character played by Cameron Mathison. In real life, the actor is a nice guy who’s been super busy. He’s also had some difficulties in recent times, but didn’t let that stop him from opening up about them as he moves toward the next chapter of his life.

It Was a Tax Write-Off

As a guest on Maurice Benard’s (Sonny) YouTube mental health show, State of Mind, Mathison explained how he was very comfortable talking about the trials and tribulations in his life. “It’s been an especially challenging stretch the last, I guess, four years in total, but specifically the last couple months,...

Here’s Why Mark Consuelos Almost Rejected All My Children Role
Image
It’s hard to see anyone else take on the role of Mateo Santos on All My Children. But it could’ve happened. Mark Consuelos was almost passed for the role on the ABC daytime soap.

Soap Secrets

Secrets from the show were revealed during Susan Lucci in Conversation with Andy Cohen: All My Children at 55, which took place on Tuesday, January 14 in New York City. AMC’s casting director, Judy Blye Wilson, admitted it wasn’t easy to cast Consuelos for the role of Mateo.

“I don’t know why they were dragging their heels on it, but they actually had him play the role, so he started playing the role, and I had to continue to search for another person,” Wilson explained, per People. “So we screen-tested Mark several times. Finally, I begged the producer, and she relinquished, and it turned out to be the best, one...

‘All My Children’ Casting Director Had To Fight For Mark Consuelos
Image
Mark Consuelos is known for his co-hosting duties on Live With Kelly and Mark. However, he originally got his start on All My Children. Recently, one of the soap’s crewmembers revealed that they had to fight for Consuelos to be on the soap.

Mark Consuelos Owes A Lot To All My Children

Consuelos’ first acting role was on the educational serial, Connect With English. However, his breakout role would be playing Mateo Santos on All My Children in 1995.

The role would be very impactful for Consuelos, as it on the soap he would meet Kelly Ripa, his onscreen love-interest and future real-life spouse. In fact, the two married by 1996.

‘Live With Kelly & Mark’ – YouTube

Later, Consuelos would become his wife’s permanent co-host on Live With Kelly and Mark in 2023. Notably, he had been a guest co-host on the series for years, with Ripa joining the talk show in 2001.

However,...

‘All My Children’ Casting Director Recalls Hiring Michael B. Jordan After Chadwick Boseman Was Fired
Image
Before going toe-to-toe in Wakanda, Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan‘s paths almost crossed in Pine Valley.

All My Children casting director Judy Blye Wilson recently recalled hiring Jordan to play Reggie Montgomery on the ABC soap opera back in 2003 after Boseman was fired from the role.

“I did cast Boseman, who became very famous, as we all know. And he was only on the show for just a week, because they really wanted the character to be about 16, 15 years old,” said Wilson at the 92Y, according to People.

“[Boseman] was a magnificent actor to audition. And long story short, they fired him,” she added. “And then I put in Michael B. Jordan, who became just as famous. And he was only about 15 at that time. Now, I could go on and on, but I think I don’t want to do that.”

In 2020, the late Boseman’s longtime agent...

Sarah Michelle Gellar Confirms All My Children Return
Last month TV Guide posted a story about Sarah Michelle Gellar possibly returning to All My Children before the soap ends its run on ABC on September 23. Soap Opera Digest has now confirmed the news. Said Gellar, "I have no idea what I'm doing or who I'm playing. I told them I don't want to be Kendall; that's Alicia's [Minshew] role now. She has made that beyond her own. She's amazing. I just wanted to be a part of it. I said I would be a patron in a bar, I don't care."

Gellar also had another funny suggestion that ties into the history of the show: "I can come down from the attic with Bobby Martin; I can be his ski bunny wife."

“When I heard that the show was canceled I didn’t understand," she went on to add. "It just doesn’t make sense to me. So, I called Judy Wilson,...

Before she was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah originated the role of Kendall on the soon-to-be-defunct ABC soap, winning a Daytime Emmy in 1995.

“When I heard that the show was canceled I didn’t understand,” Smg said. “It just doesn’t make sense to me. So, I called Judy Wilson, who is the casting director and has been since I was there, and I said I wanted to do something. … I was very specific — I...
