Cape Town, Feb 25 (Ians) An all-female umpiring team has been confirmed for the final of the Icc Womens T20 World Cup 2023 between hosts South Africa and reigning champions Australia, set to be played here on Sunday.
Jacqueline Williams and Kim Cotton will be the two on-field umpires, with Suzanne Redfern appointed as the TV Umpire and Nimali Perera stepping in as the fourth umpire.
Gs Lakshmi has been named as the match referee.
New Zealander Cotton will be umpiring at successive Women’s T20 World Cup finals having also been out in the middle when Australia won back in 2020, and the 45-year-old will be fresh from overseeing the first semi-final between Australia and India on Thursday.
Jamaican umpire Williams has officiated at a string of major Icc tournaments in recent years, and was one of the two on-field umpires when South Africa beat England in the second semi-final on Friday.

New Delhi, Jan 27 (Ians) In a significant first for world cricket, the International Cricket Council (Icc) on Friday named an all-female panel of match officials, including three from India, for the upcoming Icc Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, to be held from February 10-26 in South Africa.
Three match referees and 10 umpires make up the 13-woman team in what is a landmark moment for women in cricket. Three of those 13 officials will be Indians — match referee Gs Lakshmi and two umpires, Vrinda Rathi and N Janani.
Lakshmi, one of three match referees in the upcoming tournament, passed a decade of refereeing in T20Is last year. Vrinda and Janani will be umpiring at a T20 World Cup for the first time ever.

Vera really likes to keep us waiting. Series 11 of this beloved British detective series began broadcasting back in summer 2021, and after four episodes were released between then and January 2022, there’s been a year-long unexplained wait for the last two feature-length episodes of the series, which finally began airing on ITV1 on Sunday 15th January.
But like buses, you wait for one series of Vera and two arrive at once, as straight after Series 11 finishes we’ll be getting four more weekly episodes making up Series 12 as well, starting on 29th January.

Dubai, Dec 6 (Ians) The West Indies have been fined 40 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against England in the first Odi of their Icc Women’s Championship series in Antigua, the International Cricket Council (Icc) said on Tuesday.
Denavon Hayles of the Icc International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after the West Indies were ruled to be two overs short of the target on Sunday’s match after time allowances were taken into consideration.
The West Indies succumbed to a massive 142-run loss in the first Odi after conceding 307 runs to England while opting to bowl first.
In accordance with Article 2.22 of the Icc Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 percent of their match fee for every over if their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
