Andrew W.K. in Conan (2010)

Trivia

Andrew W.K.

Edit
  • Broke his right foot during a November 23, 2003 concert in Los Angeles, but continued to play concerts in a wheelchair.
  • First album, I Get Wet (2002). The cover caused problems with censors because the cover shows W.K. with a badly bloodied nose and the blood oozing down his mouth, chin, and neck. As a result, a black sticker was put on the CD shrink wraps to cover the bloody area.
  • Took classical piano when he was younger before switching to drums during his teen years
  • Has a younger brother, Patrick (born January 28, 1984), two older half-sisters, and he had an older brother who died before Andrew was born.
  • Back-up band consists of Jimmy Coup (guitar), Erik Payne (guitar), Frank Werner (guitar), Gregg Roberts (bass) and Donald Tardy (drums).
  • On January 16, 2004, he was involved in a car accident while filming his new TV show, where he drove his car head-on into two other cars. No one was injured.
  • Met his wife Cherie through their heavy metal voice teacher.
  • While in New York working on his music, he took up jobs washing dishes, selling gumball machines, and parking cars to earn money.
  • Part owner of Santos Party House in Manhattan, New York City.
  • Caused some problems with censors with his second album's working title, Blow Your Bone. The censors thought it was a sex-orientated title, but he claimed it meant blowing up chicken bones with explosives and that the title doesn't hint at anything sexual. The title may be changed before its release.
  • Father of a daughter and son.
  • Born in Los Angeles, and was raised in Michigan from age 4 to 18 before relocating to New York City
  • As of January 2010, he resides in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.
  • Working on new album "The Wolf" (May 2003)
  • In the studio working on his third album (November 2004)
  • Parents: Wendy and James
