Trivia

Larry Wilcox

Edit
  • Served in the U.S. Marines for three years including 13 months in Vietnam. Honorably Discharged as SSgt.
  • His only sister (he had two other brothers) was slain in front of her three children and her own mother in Wyoming. Her husband was accused of the murder but acquitted in a celebrated trial. He was subsequently killed in a barroom brawl.
  • He produced, directed, written, and starred in a children's video called The Little CHP (1995), which tells the story of two little boys who dream of becoming CHP motor officers.
  • He has a total of five children from his 3 marriages.
  • Rumors of friction began to surface between Larry and co-star Erik Estrada late in the 1978-1979 season on the "CHiPS" set. When Erik Estrada married late in 1979, Wilcox was not invited. Larry married his second wife four months later and returned the compliment. Estrada's serious motorcycle injury at the beginning of the 1979-1980 season did not repair the relationship. Time, however, has seemed to heal all wounds and they have kept in touch occasionally in recent years.
  • Was a contender for the role of James "Sonny" Crockett on Deux flics à Miami (1984), but lost the part to Don Johnson.
  • In February 1999, founded the UC HUB Group, Inc. UC HUB delivers solutions for communications needs, including connectivity, content, and commerce. UC HUB's vision of an interconnected Digital Community, where all can benefit from the enhanced quality of life offered by the applications, products, and services available to each digital citizen, drives the company towards the future and influences all of the company's corporate decisions. This successful company has its corporative offices in Las Vegas. Larry Wilcox is the company's Chairman, President, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Director.
  • Larry's two oldest children from his marriage to Judy Vagner are Derek Wilcox and Heidi Wilcox. Daughter Wendy Wilcox is from his marriage to second wife Hannie Strasser. His two youngest children, Ryan and Chad, were born to him and his current wife Marlene Harmon, who was once a member of the 1980 Olympic Heptathalon Team.
  • Member of DeMolay in Rawlins, Wyoming, where he served as Master Councilor of Rawlins Chapter.
  • Graduated from Rawlins High School, Rawlins WY
  • Spending most of his time in a ranch in San Fernando Valley, CA. Runs from there his company UC HUB Group, Inc. (their corporative offices are in Las Vegas) and enjoys the company of his wife and sons. (August 2006)
  • Was up for the Nick Nolte role in the miniseries Le riche et le pauvre (1976).
  • Friends with Lorenzo Lamas. Erik Estrada, Robert Pine, Marlene Harmon, Randi Oaks, Paul Link, Michael Dorn, Lew Saunders, Bruce Penhall, Ted Lange, Gary Davis, Bud Davis.
  • Larry appeared in a Schlitz Beer commercial with another future cop-show star Michael Warren, Hill Street Blues wherein, part of a street basketball team, Larry runs off, around the corner and into a bar to drink Schlitz... soon joined by his buddies.
  • No relation to Lisa Wilcox, of "Nightmare On Elm Street" fame, despite a popular misconception.
