  • She was an acquaintance of Night of the Hunter novelist Davis Grubb. When director 'Charles Laughton' was looking for a vocalist to sing the lullaby in his film adaptation of the novel, Grubb suggested he go to a nightclub to hear hear White sing. He did and White was chosen to sing the haunting lullaby.
  • Launched her career at age three doing vaudeville with her twin sister, Maudie.
