Biography

    • Screenwriter Christina Welsh is best known for writing "If Only," the romantic drama starring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Tom Wilkinson, and for winning the 2020 Canadian Screen Award for Best Writing, TV Movie, for her work on "Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey."

"If Only" was a ratings success for ABC Family. It became an international hit when it was released theatrically around the world, and continues to play regularly to global television audiences. It was the opening night selection at the Sarasota Film Festival - where Christina was presented with the Mark P. Famiglio Award for Excellence in Filmmaking.

"Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey" had its world premiere on Lifetime on September 30, 2018. The movie has gone on to accumulate eight award nominations and three award wins, including Best TV Movie at the 2020 Canadian Screen Awards.

Her film "Addicted" - a sexy and provocative thriller, based on the best-selling book by Zane and starring Sharon Leal, Boris Kodjoe and international star William Levy - opened in theaters on October 10, 2014.

Before making the transition to full-time screenwriter, Christina was an entertainment reporter on Power 106-FM, then the #1 radio station in Los Angeles. She filed live reports from such high profile events as the Oscars, the Emmys and the Golden Globe Awards and interviewed major stars, such as Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg, Kevin Costner and Clint Eastwood.

A member of SAG/AFTRA, she also has a varied acting resume with voiceover, theater and film credits, including the motion picture "Midnight Witness." Christina wrote and performed in several comedy showcases at the famed Groundlings Theater, and she co-created and starred in two long-running live Hollywood theater productions - including a full-length musical and a sketch comedy and improv show that played to audiences for over two years.
