Things were looking grim for the Melissa Rauch-led Night Court reboot at NBC following its cancellation after three seasons. Despite hopes from the team that the sitcom could find a new home for courtroom hijinks by shopping the series, initial reports from TV Line revealed that nobody was biting on bringing back Judge Abby Stone and her staff for another run. Now, Rauch has delivered the show its sentence. In a recent post on Instagram, she finally addressed the show's end and revealed that, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the Manhattan municipal court will be remaining closed.
"I have held off on posting anything about Night Court not continuing until I knew we did everything in our power to find another home for it," Rauch said to open her post. As a longtime fan of the original Reinhold Weege series starring Harry Anderson, the reboot was a...

Melissa Rauch officially bid farewell to “Night Court” on Wednesday, breaking the news that the reboot series was unable to find another home after its cancellation at NBC.
“I have held off on posting anything about ‘Night Court’ not continuing until I knew we did everything in our power to find another home for it,” Rauch said in a Wednesday Instagram post, adding that the Goonies “Never Say Die” motto or “straight up denial” led her to hope the “incredibly special experience” wouldn’t be coming to an end.
“That said, after turning over all the stones there were to be turned over, we’ve learned that it is officially the hour to say ‘farewell.’ Or at least ‘Until next time,'” Rauch continued.

The 2024-2025 TV season has ended, and now audience members can look forward to networks throwing up new shows and brand-new seasons of their favorite ones. While we Night Court fans might be hoping that NBC might be willing to shop the comedy series out, recent reports don't offer much hope. Per TV Line, "early efforts to shop the sitcom revival have thus far come up empty," the report says in part, adding,...

Nostalgia is not, inherently, a bad thing. Classic films like Federico Fellini's "L'Avventura," George Lucas' "American Graffiti," and Richard Linklater's "Dazed and Confused" pine away for carefree youth, but they're also careful to acknowledge that the end of the party is on the horizon. Those tales are told from a place of melancholy remove. To quote Thomas Wolfe, "Going back home is a real boneheaded idea."
But in our glutted age of entertainment, where the competition for eyeballs is fierce, the old-school networks believe that one of their programming strengths is viewers' wistfulness for a simpler time, when there were three or four major broadcast entities providing the lion's share of original content. ABC, NBC, CBS and the 1980s party crasher Fox have their work cut out for them in 2025. They're held to conservative content standards and archaic scheduling strictures. Decades ago, they still had an edge because...

The NBC jury has reached a verdict, your honor, and it is bad news for Night Court fans. The reboot of the classic Reinhold Weege sitcom was firmly on the bubble for the network after drawing a more modest audience than its first two seasons under Dan Rubin. In the end, Melissa Rauch will not be returning to the bench as Judge Abby Stone for Season 4, as the series has been cancelled per Deadline. The news comes just days after Season 3 served out the final two episodes of its 18-episode sentence with a bombshell reveal that changed everything for Judge Stone.
Night Court kicked off on a white-hot note when it debuted in 2023. According to Nielsen ratings at the time, the reboot had been NBC's biggest comedy premiere since 2017, only being surpassed by the reboot of Will & Grace. Since then, the series settled into a groove, bringing zany courtroom...

NBC has canceled Lopez vs. Lopez and Night Court after three seasons apiece. The cancellations come on the final business day before NBC’s upfront — when networks pitch advertisers on their coming slates — on Monday.
Night Court aired its third season finale, which will now serve as a series ender, on Tuesday — although sources say Warner Bros. TV, which produces the show with Universal TV, may try to find a new home for the series.
This Night Court stars Melissa Rauch (who also executive produces) as Abby Stone, a judge in Manhattan’s often chaotic night court and the daughter of Harry Stone, the lead character in the original 1984-92 series (who was played by the late Harry Anderson). John Larroquette reprised his role from the original series as attorney Dan Fielding; the season three cast also includes Lacretta, Nyambi Nyambi and Wendie Malick. It’s the end of the road for the “Night Court” reboot and “Lopez vs. Lopez” at NBC.
NBC opted not to renew the Melissa Rauch-led sitcom or the George and Mayan Lopez comedy series for a fourth season, TheWrap has learned. The news comes just days after “Night Court” aired its Season 3 finale, which left off on a cliffhanger surrounding the romantic life of judge Abby Stone (Rauch). “Lopez vs. Lopez” wrapped its run in February.
The cuts come ahead of NBC’s upfront presentation on Monday, with the network having to make tough decisions to make room for NBA programming starting this fall.
While “Night Court” won’t return to NBC, Warner Bros. TV, which produces the show, is hoping to find a new home for series, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.

Night Court is no longer in session: NBC has cancelled the courtroom comedy revival after three seasons, TVLine has confirmed, though it is possible that Warner Bros. Television could shop the sitcom around to another network or streamer.
The continuation of the 1984-92 courtroom comedy starred Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) as Judge Abby Stone, who presided over the same New York City night court as her late father Harry Stone (played on the original series by Harry Anderson, who died in 2018). John Larroquette reprised his role as attorney Dan Fielding, who served as the night court’s public defender.

Exclusive: NBC’s Night Court is no longer in session as the multi-camera comedy starring Melissa Rauch is not being renewed for a fourth season.
The news is not surprising since NBC has been looking to make cuts as it is preparing for basketball coverage next season under the $2.5B a year deal with the NBA. Night Court, a reboot the original 1984 sitcom, was considered vulnerable — after a strong early run early on, the comedy has been posting significant year-to-year drop-off this season as the nostalgia factor may have worn off.
Still, Deadline understands there was a late push for Night Court to return for a shorter fourth and final season, which was unsuccessful. There is a possibility for it to be shopped elsewhere by studio Warner Bros. Television.

The third season ofNBC's Night Court ended with a very unanticipated reveal, and at the same time, debuted Melissa Rauch’s former Big Bang Theoryhusband. The finale aired on NBC on Tuesday, May 6, as a one-hour event with Part 1 featuring guest stars Michael Urie and original Night Court star Marsha Warfield. Part 2, on the other hand, saw Simon Helberg appear once again as Rauch’s onscreen spouse, marking the first TV reunion between the duo since their stint on Big Bang.
Given how things concluded in the Night Court Season 3 finale, fans should expect Helberg's return in future episodes if the show is renewed. But while that remains to be seen, Rauch recently discussed the finale with TV Insider, including what it was like working with her former Big Bang Theory co-star. The actress only had the best words for Helberg, describing his presence on set as “so incredibly special” before adding:

On May 7, 2022, a historic moment in comedy unfolded at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. LGBTQ+ comedians from around the world gathered for an unprecedented performance celebrating diverse voices and groundbreaking achievements in Netflix's stand-up special Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration. While audiences may have viewed it as an epic comedy night, for filmmaker Page Hurwitz, it became much more: the backbone of her documentary, Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution.

When I pitched the concept to Netflix, they loved it. What I wanted to do is create a documentary that felt as dynamic as our community. Bernadette and Howard Wolowitz are officially getting back together! Night Court's upcoming Season 3 finale on May 6 will be a big one with back-to-back episodes welcoming Melissa Rauch's Big Bang Theory partner, Simon Helberg, to the Manhattan Municipal Court. Melissa Fumero is in a very familiar place. After winning viewers over as Amy Santiago in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, she's played another detective in the second season of Based on a True Story -- and she's about to dig into a new mystery (literally) in Grosse Pointe Garden Society. Aside from the similar themes, the shows all have one thing in common: they're all on NBC or its streaming service Peacock.
In an interview with Cbr, Fumero spoke about how portraying Drew in Based on a True Story Season 2 was different from her years as fan-favorite Amy. She discussed what it's like working on so many different projects under the same umbrella. Plus, would she return to another hit NBC series and reprise her role as Jasmine on Night Court?

After three and a half seasons, Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch) and Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) have gotten to know one another pretty well, though there are still some interesting surprises that they continue to uncover about one another.
On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Night Court will premiere Season 3's eighth episode, titled "Age Against the Machine." In a new sneak peek clip Cbr can exclusively debut, Dan grows a bit emotional over his colleagues seeing him as the "old man" in the courtroom. Abby then reminds Dan that the two of them have in common much more than he might think, sharing that she's also just as much of a "Swiftie" as he is — though they're not talking about a certain pop star. Abby then shares how she wants to be "just like" Dan when she grows up in the touching clip, which can be viewed below.

The Night Court revival series only features one main cast member as a series regular, with John Larroquette starring as Dan Fielding. It's been a bittersweet experience for the actor, as several of his co-stars of the original series have since passed away.
In the Season 2 finale of the sequel series, the show referenced Christine Sullivan, the character played by the late Markie Post in the original Night Court. Gigi Rice was introduced as Christine's sister, appearing at the wedding of a returning Roz (Marsha Warfield). In an interview with TV Insider, Larroquette spoke about the tribute to Post and hinted that there may be other tributes to come, as long as they never feel forced. He also noted how Rice and Post played sisters in the 2019 Hallmark film Christmas Reservations, which was Post's final role before her passing in 2021.

Dropping new episodes on Tuesdays, Night Court season 3 premieres November 19 at 8:30 p.m. Et/Pt on NBC. The multi-camera sitcom ended on a massive cliffhanger, leaving fans reeling long after the season 2 finale blinked off their screens. "The Best Dan" sees Melissa Rauch's character, Abby, decide to take the next step in her relationship with Jake (Ryan Hansen) at Roz's (Marsha Warfield) wedding. However, she makes a startling discovery when she speaks with Jake's mom.
Susan reveals that she dated a lawyer who worked in the Manhattan courtroom about a year before her son was born. Abby appears to be in shock, suddenly noticing an uncanny resemblance between Dan and her boyfriend. The episode ends with Flobert coming to the same realization and telling Abby that Jake may be Dan's biological son (and that he's out of cake pops).

Night Court season 3 premieres November 19 on NBC and drops new episodes weekly on Tuesdays. Its return has been highly anticipated following the massive cliffhanger at the end of the season 2 finale. "The Best Dan" sees Abby (Melissa Rauch) and Jake (Ryan Hansen) attempt to keep their relationship casual, despite having serious feelings for one another. It becomes evident at Roz's (Marsha Warfield) wedding that they both want to embrace what's between them, regardless of the risk.
However, the real plot twist occurs when Jake opens up about his absent father, and Abby discovers a possible connection between his mom and Dan. A rather indicative shot shows Jake and Dan parallel one another, immediately making Abby wonder if her boyfriend's father has been in front of them all along. The credits roll seconds after Flobert gasps alongside the judge and says what she's thinking aloud for the audience.

It’s not every day that a classic 1980s sitcom gets revived by a major television channel, but that’s exactly what happened with Night Court. Fans of the original series, which aired from 1984 to 1992, were thrilled—and perhaps a little shocked—when NBC premiered a revival of Night Court on January 17, 2023. Rather than rebooting the beloved show, this new series continues the original storyline, focusing on Abby Stone, the daughter of Harry Stone, the quirky and endearing judge who was the heart of the original series.
The revival has proven to be more than just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. In February 2023, after a successful debut, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on December 23, 2023. The momentum didn’t stop there—by May 2024, NBC had renewed Night Court for a third season, set to premiere on November 19, 2024. With its blend of old and new, the...

A familiar face is joining the cast of Night Court Season 3. Wendie Malick, who recurred in the first two seasons, has been upgraded to a series regular for the upcoming third season of the NBC sitcom, which is set to premiere on NBC on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 8:30 p.m. Et/Pt.
Per Deadline, Malick will be reprising her role from the first two seasons as Julianne Walters, the new prosecutor for the night shift at the Manhattan Criminal Court. She is described as "a reformed convict" who is "a sophisticated, savvy woman and accomplished attorney who also knows how to make a shank out of a spoon." She is also the former love interest of Dan Fielding (John Larroquette). Malick's casting comes after it was revealed back in May 2024 that India de Beaufort had departed the series after two seasons and would not be returning as assistant district attorney/prosecutor Olivia Moore.
