However, the action icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, now suits up to play Kris Kringle for the comedy The Man With the Bag, which also stars Alan Ritchson. The concept is similar to Red One, except this time, Santa loses his bag of presents and enlists a former thief to get it back. Adam Shankman directs The Man With The Bag from a script by Allan Rice. An action movie starring the woman who took down the Predator in Prey and the man mountain lead of Prime Video's Reacher, written by the dude responsible for John Wick, and directed by the stunt co-ordinator for the likes of Logan and Avatar: The Way Of Water may sound like some kind of nutty genre fever dream, but it's actually very real — and it could be the next big action franchise. Per Deadline's reporting, Yautja ass kicker Amber Midthunder and actual Jack Reacher Alan Ritchson are set to team up on Painter, an all-new action movie poured from the pen of Derek Kolstad and helmed by genre veteran Garrett Warren.

Due to set sales at the American Film Market next week, Painter — per the description provided to Deadline — is set to centre around an expertly trained young woman (Midthunder) who's forced to put her skills to use when her father (presumably Ritchson) is kidnapped.

Alan Ritchson will not look for us. He will not pursue us. But if we don’t do something about Ritchson, then he will find us and… surprise us with a reverse Taken film.

Well, recent news broke out that Reacher star Alan Ritchson is going to get kidnapped in his upcoming film called Painter.

Just a few days ago, we heard that Reacher star Alan Ritchson is teaming up with Need for Speed and Expendables 4 director Scott Waugh for an action thriller called Runner, and now Deadline reports that Ritchson has also signed on to star in an action film called Painter, which will team him with Prey star Amber Midthunder and John Wick writer Derek Kolstad. The project is set up at FilmNation Entertainment‘s production label Infrared, and FilmNation will be launching distribution sales at the upcoming American Film Market in Las Vegas.

Former stuntman Garrett Warren, who served as stunt coordinator on the likes of Logan, Avatar, Alita: Battle Angel, and Road House, will be directing the film. Although Warren is also attached to direct a true crime drama called One Man’s War, it looks like Painter will turn out to be his feature directorial debut.

The creator of the John Wick franchise has united two fan favorite stars of the genre for a new movie that just might become the next big action franchise. Per Deadline, Derek Kolstad who wrote the first two John Wick movies and co-wrote the third is penning the screenplay for Painter, an action movie that's being described as a potential "franchise starter." He's now set to lead and produce Painter, a new title from FilmNation Entertainment's production label Infrared, featuring the mountainous man opposite Prey standout Amber Midthunder. Amazon’s remake of the 1980s classic Road House released earlier this year in March. And while the film failed to hit the heights of the original, that in itself is not a reflection on the movie’s stars, headed by Jake Gyllenhaal and well, Conor McGregor.

However, the scenes in general might appear far different if one considers the fact that Warrett himself described the thrilling fight scenes as ‘glorified pillow fights.’

Whether or not you think it’s sacrilege to remake the 1989 cult favourite, Road House, it’s arguable that director Doug Liman directed his fight scenes with gleeful rawness – faces are pummelled, bodies are sent crashing through tables, and backsides are well and truly kicked.

It’s possible that Liman’s full-frontal method of shooting his hand-to-hand combat scenes may have left you wondering: how do you make it look as though UFC star Conor McGregor’s just punched Jake Gyllenhaal square in the face without landing the Hollywood star in hospital?

Filming on the Avatar sequels was one of the first major productions to resume following a forced hiatus, with producer Jon Landau since providing a few glimpses of what's going on behind-the-scenes of the upcoming sci-fi action franchise. Well, Landau is back, this time giving us a look at the latter element of Avatar 2 courtesy of a few pictures which suggest the war between the humans and the Na'vi is far from over.

We haven't heard any updates on the Starship Troopers TV show in some time. Last year, original writer Ed Neumeier revealed that plans were underway for a possible series based on the 1997 sci-fi flick which is, itself, based on the novel of the same name by Robert A. Heinlein. Now, we have some info from Casper Van Dien, who plays Johnny Rico in the franchise. Not only is the actor eager to return for the show but he was involved in the development process.

I recently had the chance to speak with Casper Van Dien about his upcoming movie The 2nd. We will be sharing the full interview soon but during our conversation, I asked him what was going on with the Starship Troopers show. Here's what he had to say about it.

Mickey Rourke is circling a new John Milius script It seems that actor Mickey Rourke could be gearing up to take on a feared Mongol leader for a new biopic. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Rourke is circling Genghis Khan, which was written by John Milius. Here's an excerpt from the site's story.

"I read his script and you know, the man is known for his tough writing. He wrote Conan and Dirty Harry and Apocalypse Now, and it'll be interesting to see how he works behind the camera. Enjoying some family time, Zoe Saldana was spotted leaving a New York City hotel with her grandmother earlier today (April 22).

Abrams’ acclaimed reboot of Star Trek, but also playing Neytiri, the soulful heart of the story in James Cameron’s box office-busting Avatar. Appropriately, each of them exudes charisma and charm; but speaking together, Saldana and Morgan offer humble observations and defer to one another when discussing their on-screen collaboration.

It seems like every spring Hollywood produces at least one breakthrough movie – the sort of film that razes notions of stardom or style and gives audiences something they want in a way they don’t expect. The Losers appears to be 2010’s requisite entry: directed by Sylvain White, best known for helming Stomp The Yard, the film features an ensemble of up-and-comers in roles that give them equal opportunities to advertise their action and comedy chops.

Following a presentation of footage and a public Q&A Saturday at San Franscisco’s Wondercon, the cast and crew spoke directly to reporters about the process of bringing the cult comic book to life. Sylvain White, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans and Columbus Short offered their opinions and insights about the film, and additionally provided a few details about some of their individual projects, including Evans’ recently-announced stint as Captain America.

Director Sylvain White’s highly anticipated adaptation of Andy Diggle and Jock's “The Losers” will hit theaters next April. And while the film has an all-star cast — including Chris Evans, Zoe Saldana, Idris Elba and Columbus Short — the movie may ultimately stand out from the pack thanks to its reliance on practical special effects over CGI, according to veteran stunt coordinator Garrett Warren (“Avatar”).

“[White] wanted it to be not only like the comic book but somewhat more visceral,” relayed Warren during an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “It’s an amazingly real yet superbly comical look at these black ops special agents. And I loved the dichotomy. He was thinking the ‘Bourne’ films and ‘24,’ and yet he wanted to have comedy involved.”

“It’s all live action, 100%,” continued Warren. “There is some amazing action in that movie. You will be blown away. People will think, ‘Wow, that had to be CG.

Stunt Coordinator Garrett Warren has worked on an impressive resume of high-profile movies, such as Avatar and Iron Man 2, but he told the La Times that it's the comic book adaptation of The Losers that has a "special place" in his heart, especially after helping actress Zoe Saldana land the role of Aisha, the loose cannon amongst a group of CIA black ops agents.

Both Andy Diggle and Jock have leaked some behind-the-scenes looks at the "Losers" set over the last 24 hours. The comic's logo appears to have been quite pervasive, showing up on sanitation reminders and stunt team shirts during filming in Puerto Rico.

Elsewhere, though a "Goats" movie has not been announced, creator Jon Rosenberg announced his ideal picks to star if an adaptation ever occurs. His fellow webcomicker R. While "Iron Man 2" has been in its post-production phase for quite some time, it has been hit with another rumor, speculating that Marvel Studios is tinkering with the conversion of the action movie to Digital 3-D. Coming up with the story was Ain't It Cool News (AICN) which reported that a minute of the "Iron Man" sequel is being converted to 3-D as a demo.

"Right now, there is a 1 minute demo of Iron Man 2 converted to high quality digital 3D. I'm told this one minute is totally like Kim Basinger & Mickey Rourke in 9 1/2 Weeks," so Harry of AICN claimed. The site further pointed out that while the 3-D demo is prepared, Marvel, Paramount and Disney "are fishing for bids with 3 different companies to see what the cost and time it would take to convert Iron Man 2 to a complete 3D film."

Movieline chatted with stunt choreographer of the year, Garrett Warren, who revealed some information about Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn" and the upcoming "Iron Man" sequel. Regarding "Tintin": "It looks an awful lot like the cartoon. They really wanted to bring the cartoon to life. So if you know the cartoon, or have seen the books, that's what it looks like. It's beautiful. You would have thought to yourself that they would have tried to go for a more realistic look, but they're actually trying to preserve the look and essence of the original 'Tintin' characters." Regarding "Iron Man 2": "Iron Man 2 had a double-whip sequence, and I am a whip specialist. There's not very many of us in Hollywood that do double-whips. In the movie, you won't see those whips. They'll digitally replace it with other types of whips.

We recently got a look at what (we think) Mickey Rourke’s finished Whiplash armor (above) will look like in Iron Man 2; now we have Rourke’s own stunt double describing what Whiplash’s weaponry - his energy whips - are like and how much havoc they actually wreak in the film.

Garrett Warren was recently crowned the 2009 Stunt Choreographer of the Year at the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards, and he sat down for an exclusive interview with Movieline to describe what it’s like working on films like Tintin, Alice In Wonderland, James Cameron’s Avatar, and yes, getting crazy with those whips on the set of Iron Man 2.

Typically, the stuntman's role is to make the big action scenes look dangerously bad-ass, not to talk about the film itself. But "Iron Man 2" and "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" stunt choreographer Garrett Warren isn't your typical stuntman—he's got a whole lot to say, and comic book fans might want to listen up.

Warren spoke with Movieline about his work on both upcoming comic book films, which involved stuntwork on behalf of Mickey Rourke's villainous Whiplash in "Iron Man 2."

While many of his comments were innocent, some of them did reveal some interesting information about the whip-clad baddie.

"I had brought two whips with me that are made of kangaroo hide that are incredibly well made," Warren described of Whiplash's whips. "You can perform all sorts of tricks and cracks with them. In the movie, you won't see those whips. They'll digitally replace it with other types of whips.
