Chicago Fire Season 13 has been rough on firefighter Sam Carver.
But let’s be honest: his entire run on the show has been difficult.
Carver joined Firehouse 51 with a chip on his shoulder, and he didn’t like how open his new co-workers were about their lives.
While Carver has softened over the past year, his storylines have remained difficult.
Carver is currently in rehab to deal with an alcohol problem. He turned to drinking after his relationship with paramedic Violet Mikami imploded.
But Carver also realized he needed help and asked his direct boss (Stella Kidd) for the room to seek it.
Carver left his post at Firehouse 51 to enter a program, leading some fans to worry he might be gone for good.
When Jack Damon was added as a full-time firefighter, it raised additional questions about Carver’s future on the show.

A new episode of Chicago P.D. is slated for Wednesday, April 2.
Next up on the docket, Officer Kevin Atwater gets an episode.
As has become the familiar format for Chicago P.D., a specific character leads many of the mid-season episodes.
On the latest Chicago P.D. episode, Detective Kim Burgess took center stage. She had to solve five murders that happened at a diner.
The episode was presented uniquely, and Burgess solved the case before the night ended.
Now, the baton gets passed to Atwater. He takes the lead for the upcoming episode.
This format will likely continue until we get to the important storylines that will wrap up the current season.

Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) is spiraling. The chief has spent most of season 13 winning over even his toughest critics. He's proven to be a fair yet determined leader who is willing to do what he needs to in order to save lives. At least, he did. The death of Pascal's wife, Monica (KaDee Strickland), flipped these strengths on their head.
Pascal is no longer a steadying hand at Firehouse 51. He's impulsive, angry, and quick to put himself in harm's way. He's not exemplfying leadership behavior, and the investigation we know is coming in season 13 leads us to believe that his tenure as chief may not be much longer. Pascal could need a replacement, and these are the three most likely candidates.

Chicago Fire aired its first new episode following the tragic death of Monica Pascal.
Monica was the wife of Chief Dom Pascal, and she died due to injuries from a car accident.
Here’s a full recap of Monica’s final episode, which ended with Dom by her side at the hospital.
That episode also revealed that Severide and Kidd had advanced in their quest to become adoptive parents.
Carver was out seeking treatment for his alcoholism, and Violet was pretty gutted about it.
A relationship between Damon (Baby Severide) and Lizzy Novak may also be blooming.
Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 16 recap
The new episode began with Dom Pascal at a funeral home as he planned to honor his wife. He wanted it to be family only and didn’t want any friends or co-workers showing up.
Damon chose to leave his house after some troubles, putting himself back in the floater pool.

Chicago Fire entered season 13 as a brand new firehouse. Well, the characters we know and love were still there, but there were a few crucial newcomers. There was Lizzy Novak (Jocelyn Hudon), there was Jack Damon (Michael Bradway), and of course, Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney).
Novak has integrated herself seamlessly with the rest of Firehouse 51. The other two? Not so much. It's been a tough road for both Damon and Pascal, with the former getting transferred and the latter losing his wife in a car accident. Just when it felt like we had a grasp on both characters, though, the tables turned.

Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) enforced Cfd rules that had been neglected when he took over as the new firehouse chief. From precise documentation to hierarchy and doing things by the book, the new chief overhauled the reigning Chicago Fire culture. Part of those changes reinforced the rule that no two related people should work on the same shift. Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo), Kelly (Taylor Kinney), and Damon (Michael Bradway) are related, presenting a problem that was partially solved when Damon transferred to another firehouse. Recent developments hint at Damon's return, and that problem might arise again. "I think for one thing, Pascal likes to see a guy take his knocks and have a second chance," Mulroney told TV Line about his characters' feelings about this pending development. But as much as he likes second chances, the rules are the rules. The actor discussed Pascal's view of the issue, saying:

We're all pretty invested in the idea of Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) becoming the 51 Firehouse Chief. He has the experience, he cares about the people he works with, and he's good at his job. The previous Chief, Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), wanted it to be him, and current Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) is trying to mentor him. So what's the hold up?
Well, according to Mulroney, it's Herrmann himself. The character has all the skills needed, but he told TV Insider that he suspects there's something internal the firefighter is dealing with. "Herrmann’s like hot and cold," he explained. "He’s so unpredictable." He also explained how the relationship between Pascal and Herrmann is going to get increasingly complicated as season 13 progresses.

Law & Order Svu has finally circled back to the hostage crisis from the midseason finale.
Ada Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr. was held hostage with several other victims inside a deli.
Carisi interrupted a robbery in progress at the deli. Two men were forcing customers to use the Atm to withdraw money from their accounts.
The entire episode dealt with the deli hostage situation, with Carisi (played by Peter Scanavino) on the inside and his wife Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) outside.
Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) went looking for Carisi when he missed a meeting with her. She arrived at the deli right as the two criminals forced Carisi to lock the front door. She considered this to be Carisi saving her life and wanted to ensure he got out safely.
From there, everything spiraled, and the experience of that hostage situation has stuck with Carisi ever since.

We've been waiting all season for Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) to return. We were promised the character would pop up in season 13 despite leaving Firehouse 51, and we are finally getting our wish with the episode "In the Rubble."
Boden's return will not be a lovefest, however. The timing could not be worse for his successor, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney). The Chief is still reeling from the death of his wife, and his ability to lead in the field is compromised. Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman claimed that Boden and Pascal's dynamic a little but, but Mulroney went into much more detail during his recent interview with TV Insider.

“He tries,” says Dermot Mulroney of his character, Chief Dom Pascal, in the aftermath of his wife Monica’s (KaDee Strickland) death. Chicago Fire returns with a new episode on March 26, “In the Rubble.” In it, in the face of adversity, Pascal searches for justice. Unsurprisingly, he’s not going to be doing well when it comes to dealing with his loss. Below, Mulroney talks Pascal’s grief, Eamonn Walker‘s return as Boden, and more. You were so good at the end of the last episode. It was so heartbreaking. Dermot Mulroney: Well, thank you. I must admit, I asked the producers when I took the job, “Please challenge me, make it really hard.” So they sure did. And of course, you remember what takes about two minutes on the television show takes really most of the day and a week and a half leading up to that moment to get there.

Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) may be a newcomer relative to the rest of the Chicago Fire cast, but he is front and center in the current season 13 storyline. He's had to contend with the death of his wife, Monica (KaDee Strickland), and suffice to say, he's not doing a great job.
The promo for the March 26 episode confirms that Pascal is letting grief get the best of him, and its compromising his ability to lead Firehouse 51. We have even seen characters like Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) voice concern for the longevity of his time at 51. This dilemma reminded us of another 51 character who came and went: Brett Dalton.

We get why Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) didn't get promoted to Chief when Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) left Firehouse 51. The character didn't have the experience needed to do the job, nor did he really spend the time to prepare to take on such a responsibility.
It was slightly disappointing to see him get earmarked for the gig, only to have an outside, Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), come in, but the more time has passed, the more we understand why. We think the character is ready to embark on the next chapter of his career, though.

We're not here to rag on Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney). The character just lost his wife, and is spiraling in a pretty understandable manner. The interesting thing here, though, is timing. He lost his wife, Monica (KaDee Strickland), in the Chicago Fire episode "Too Close," and while we know what is around the corner courtesy of the promo, we have to wait three weeks before seeing just how bad Pascal gets.
What we do know is that Pascal will be paid a visit by Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) in the current season. The former chief of Firehouse 51 will be called upon to conduct an investigation after a 51 emergency call results in a house collapsing with a firefighter still inside.

Chicago Fire fans get a treat this spring.
Boden is returning to the show for the first time in Season 13.
Actor Eamonn Walker exited the show as a full-time cast member during the Season 12 finale.
Never Say Goodbye was Walker’s final installment, ending a long and successful run.
Chicago Fire fans miss his character — Chief Wallace Boden — and many hope he will return to take back Firehouse 51.
In Boden’s stead, Chief Dom Pascal entered the picture. Dermot Mulroney plays Chief Pascal, and the character is much different in leading than Boden.
Boden returns to Chicago Fire
Deputy Commissioner Wallace Boden is featured on the April 16 episode of Chicago Fire.
That night features Chicago Fire Season 13, Episode 18 at 9/8c on NBC.
This sounds like a one-off, providing fans an episode centered on Boden while showcasing that the character still works for the Chicago Fire Department.

Actor Shawn Hatosy has teased some intriguing Chicago P.D. spoilers.
Hatosy joined the Chicago P.D. cast as new Deputy Chief Charlie Reid.
Reid was suspicious from the jump, often knowing things about Hank Voight and his team that were supposed to be secrets.
Reid also knew Officer Dante Torres (played by Benjamin Levy Aguilar) had a romantic relationship with a confidential informant (Gloria Perez).
Detective Kim Burgess helped cover for Torres. Later, Voight covered for Torres and Burgess.
Reid revealed to Voight that he knew but brushed it off so they could be “friends” moving forward.
Reid finally called in those favors on Voight during the most recent episode. And Voight has been compromised.

The Chicago Med cast has added a new actress.
During the most recent episode, A woman stopped by the hospital to see Dr. John Frost (Darren Barnet).
As he explained it, this was the actress who had played his TV mom many years prior.
Frost was a child television star and it has been referenced a lot this season.
Frost also suggested to his co-workers that the visit was a nice surprise, but he retreated to the bathroom and vomited after interacting with the woman.
The writing has hinted that something darker is at play in this situation and that future episodes will flesh out that storyline.
The Chicago Med cast adds Jessalyn Gilsig as Ainsley Towne
Glee’s Jessalyn Gilsig has joined the Chicago Med cast as Ainsley Towne.
Gilsig played Terri Schuester (and Terri Del Monico) on Glee, another character with a darker side, such as when she faked a pregnancy.

Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) is not in the best state of mind. The character lost his wife on the eve of their wedding anniversary, so we can't blame him much. A loss of that magnitude would traumatize anyone. The problem is, Pascal's trauma is resulting in dangerous calls being made in the field.
One of these upcoming calls will be so dangerous, in fact, that Pascal's precedessor, Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), will be brought in to investigate. Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman talked about the dynamic of these two powerful men during a recent interview with TV Insider. She made it clear that they will not get along.

Stickland's character was introduced to the NBC drama in Season 13 as the estranged wife of new fire chief Dom Pascal (played by Dermot Mulroney).
Chief Pascal notably replaced Eamonn Walker's Battalion Chief Wallace Boden, who stepped away from the show after being a major character for its first 12 seasons on the air.

Her statement echoes something actor Patrick Flueger posted earlier this winter.

Burgess and Ruzek have had an on-again, off-again relationship on the show, but the characters are ready to take that next step.
The couple already has a daughter. They adopted Makayla after her biological mother was murdered.

Chicago Fire killed off Monica Pascal (KaDee Strickland). It was telegraphed from the promo, which we discussed at length, but the emotional impact of the death still hit hard. A big part of why was the reaction from Monica's husband, Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney).
The character was absolutely horrified to learn that his estranged wife had perished the very same night they were scheduled to have an anniversary dinner. It was a gut punch to end all gut punches, but it's something Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman felt was important for the show.

Boden Wallace (Eamonn Walker) is temporarily returning to Firehouse 51. While Chicago Fire viewers and firehouse members will be happy to see since the departed at the end of Season 12, the atmosphere will be "fraught," Chicago Fire's showrunner Andrea Newman told TV Insider. Boden has been sent to investigate what went wrong during a fire rescue that the new chief, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), was in charge of. Still reeling from losing his wife, Pascal might be on edge more than usual and the investigation does not make him happy. Newman teased a tense reunion, saying:...

A new episode of Chicago Med aired on March 5.
The new installment picked up soon after the last episode ended, as Dr. Mitch Ripley received some bad news from Dr. Hannah Asher.
Asher broke up with Ripley for good, feeling that he was spiraling and not the same person as when they got together.
It continued the downward spiral for Ripley, who had been drinking too much and getting in bar fights.
Ripley also got suspended from Med when he tried to treat a patient he had beaten up previously.
The new episode from Wednesday night was called Down in a Hole, referring to what would happen later.

Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) is in a bad way. The character suffered the loss of a lifetime during the episode "Too Close." The night he was supposed to celebrate his wedding anniversary, Monica Pascal (KaDee Strickland) was killed in a massive car accident.

Chicago Fire teased a death, and it delivered. The episode "Too Close" saw the tragic demise of Monica Pascal (KaDee Strickland) in a vicious car accident. But don't get too excited — he's not coming back in a full-time capacity.

After not appearing in the recent mega-crossover event that took place on the Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago P.D. television shows, fans wondered if they would ever see Boden again.
