Mr & Mrs Mahi is bright and revealing in that rare kind of way where the cinematic emotions never drown the underlining lifelike wisdom.

At one point, Kumud Mishra asks his screen-wife Zarina Wahab if she got a particular line from the WhatsApp.

“No, I got it from life,” she replies with a smile.

Sweeping the WhatsApp generation off its collective feet Mr & Mrs Mahi takes the audience into a traditional Basu Chatterjee romcom and emerges from the joyride with a film that is original and endearing.

Mr & Mrs Mahi starts off as a marriage between two cricket lovers who discover the big secret about one another on their wedding night. The early scenes sparkle with a coltish synergy. Nothing that Mr Mahi says to his Missus is particularly smart , and that’s the perfect pitch for this couple.

Mr & Mrs Mahi, starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, is all set to release in theatres tomorrow. It’s a romantic sports drama in which Rajkummar plays Mahendra, and Janhvi plays Mahima. It’s a love story with a blend of cricket, where a husband coaches his wife to achieve her dreams of becoming a cricketer. The film is directed by Sharan Sharma.

When the movie ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’ was announced, many thought it was based on the life of Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, aka Ms Dhoni, and his wife Sakshi Dhoni. The word ‘Mahi’ used to address Dhoni by his fans dearly is what led to the assumptions. However, the movie is not based on them. Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 14 (Ians) After winning rare reviews at the 29th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival for his Malayalam film, ‘Ozhuki Ozhuki Ozhuki’, director Sanjeev Sivan has announced his next project featuring Oscar winners Resul Pookutty and Keeravani.

Sanjeev has zeroed down on Zarina Wahab who will play a key role in what he has termed to be a horror comedy.

He told Ians that the film will start rolling from June and will be shot in Kerala and South Korea.

The camera is being handled by Manoj Pillai, sound by Pookutty, music by Keeravani, editor will be Sreekar Prasad while his wife Deepti Sivan will be the executive producer.

Sanjeev is the youngest in the popular film family based in the state capital city that includes his late father Sivan and his three sons: ace cameraman Santosh Sivan, directors Sangeeth Sivan and Sanjeev Sivan.

Sivan and Santosh are both National Award recipients.

Actor Arslan Goni, who will once again be seen playing Kunal Mattoo in the new season of ‘Tanaav’, this time will have more screen time. A source close to the development shared: “In ‘Tanaav’, Arslan Goni takes on the pivotal role of Kunal Mattoo and was appreciated by the audiences last season.”

Apart from more screen time, Arslan’s character will also have a romantic angle.

“This time around, he has more screen time with a captivating romantic angle that promises to add a layer of emotion to the series.”

‘Tanaav’, an action thriller series was directed by Sudhir Mishra.

It stars Manav Vij, Arbaaz Khan, Danish Husain, Ekta Kaul, M. K. Raina, Rajat Kapoor, Satyadeep Mishra, Shashank Arora, Sumit Kaul, Sukhmani Sadana, Waluscha De Sousa and Zarina Wahab.
