    • Hilde von Stolz was born on July 8, 1903 in Schäßburg/Segesvár, Hungary, Austria-Hungary [now Sighisoara, Romania]. She was an actress, known for Castelli in aria (1939), Mascarade (1934) and Mädchen in Weiß (1936). She died on December 16, 1973 in West Berlin, West Germany.

  • Blonde Austrian leading lady and supporting actress in Ufa films of the 1930's and 40's. An officer's daughter, she was trained for acting at the Max-Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna and made her screen debut as 'Helen Steels' in 1928. Often cast as ingénues, coquettish courtesans, dancers or actresses.
  • She made her film debut in the silent movie era with "Don Juan in der Mädchenschule" (1928) and used the pseudonym Helen Steels at the beginning of her career (till 1933).
  • She continued her career during wartime and appeared among others in the controversial propaganda movie "Jud Süss" (1940) but also in movies like "Diesel" (1942) and "Münchhausen" (1942).
  • Hilde von Stolz only appeared in few more movies after the war. To her last cinematical works belong "Ehe im Schatten" (1947), "Charleys Tante" (1955) and "Die Trapp-Familie" (1956).
  • The actress Hilde von Stolz attended the Reinhardt-Seminar in Vienna and began her career at the Viennese Kammerspiele.
