- Heavyweight British character actor and playwright, the son of a doctor. On stage from 1919, he later became a noted purveyor of suave villainy in films. He was seen to good effect as an assassin in Hitchcock's L'homme qui en savait trop (1934). At the peak of his career, Vosper died mysteriously, falling overboard and drowning during a sea voyage from New York to England aboard the transatlantic liner "Paris".
