  • Due to American aid to Britain and the increasingly frequent incidents between US warships and Axis U-Boats in the Battle of the Atlantic, Ribbentrop strongly supported the declaration of war on the US after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Plans for Rainbow Five had been published by the US press in early December.
  • Upon handing American Chargé d'affaires in Germany Leland B. Morris the declaration of war document on 12/11/41, Ribbentrop said, "Your President has wanted this war, now he has it.".
  • His son Rudolf von Ribbentrop born in Wiesbaden, Germany, on 5/11/1921, died in Ratingen, Germany on 5/20/2019. He was a Waffen SS officer during WW II, was in a military prison after the war and later became a banker. He wrote a book on his father.
  • Worked as a salesman for the sparkling wine company owned by his wife's family before becoming an adviser to Adolf Hitler.
  • When the Japanese first informed Berlin on 11/17/ 1941 that they were likely to go to war with the US, Ribbentrop and Adolf Hitler. both replied that Germany would declare war on the US in support.
