    Rangy, masculine German supporting actor and occasional lead, on stage from 1925. From 1939, he also appeared in films, mainly for Universum AG (Ufa) where he was often cast as officers, chief engineers or other authority figures. After the war, he was much in demand for synchronising work, providing the German dubbing voice for, among others, Gary Cooper, William Holden and Trevor Howard. He also performed on radio plays and as a guest star on TV.
