In addition to acting, he was a journalist for Spain's national press agency EFE, as well as magazines Paris-Match and Vogue.

Spent the first two years of his life in a hospital in Munich, Germany due to a severe illness.

Former son-in-law of Thomas Scott-Ellis, 8th Baron Howard of Walden, and his wife Margherita van Raalte. His first wife, the Honarable Essylt-Priscilla Scott-Ellis was born on 15 Nov 1916 and died in 1983.

Father of Juan Alfonso Stephen de Villalonga y Scott-Ellis, 10th Marqués de Castellvell (born on 22 June 1946), married to Michelle, and Carmen Beatrice de Villalonga y Scott-Ellis (born on 6 August1947), married in 1975 to Gregory-John Foster, both from his first marriage, and an adopted son, Fabricio de Villalonga y Stella (born on 8 September 1971), unmarried.
