- Attended Friends School and the now defunct Girls Latin School, both in Baltimore and later Vassar College For Women.
- Claimed that she far preferred the energy of live theater over making movies.
- Hilda is buried with her parents at the Oheb Shalom Cemetery in Baltimore. Her gravestone inscribed with her birth name of Hilda W. Strouse.
- She lived on Eutaw Place which was then one of the most desirable, prestigious areas of Baltimore from childhood on; first at 1706 Eutaw, then in 1916 she moved with her parents and younger brother Isaac to the Emersonian Apartments at 2502 Eutaw where she lived for decades.
- She died one day after her 60th birthday.
