  • Wrote the song "Alive" after learning the man he presumed to be his father was actually his step-father.
  • Vedder was born Edward Louis Severson III in 1964. He spent most of his childhood under the impression that his stepfather (last name Mueller) was his real father. Later he changed his last name from "Mueller" to "Vedder," which is his mother's maiden name.

  • After doing a small east coast and midwest tour promoting his self released album "Ukulele Songs," Eddie Vedder will be joining his band mates over Labor Day weekend in Alpine Valley, Wisconsin to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary. The celebration, named Pearl Jam Twenty, will be a two day festival with big name acts performing following with Pearl Jam closing each night. After Pearl Jam Twenty, Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam will embark on a small Canadian tour followed by a Central and South American tour. (July 2011)

  • Wrote the song "4/20/02" in the night that he found out about Layne Staley's death, on April 20, 2002. Vedder also paid tribute to Staley during a Pearl Jam concert in Chicago on August 22, 2016, which would be Staley's 49th birthday; "It's the birthday of a guy called Layne Staley tonight, and we're thinking of him tonight too. 49 years old", Vedder told the crowd before dedicating the song "Man of the Hour" to his late friend.
