“Hard Landing” might be The Agency episode to beat. For the first time since the series' fourth episode, “Quarterback Blitz,” pieces are slotting into place, fresh players are making an impact, and old assets are forced into action. A shadowy figure in the diplomatic negotiations is also applying more pressure to Sami, and audiences are introduced to General Volchok. A Russian extremist with questionable methods, he commands Valhalla from within Belarus. Valhalla isn't just some private army; it's a global strike force with mercenary pretensions intent on ramping up hostilities. Back in London, Danny calls on a favor to ensure her trip to Iran, and Poppy narrowly avoids kidnap.

Showtime's thriller The Agency is running on empty. In the aftermath of Season 1, Episode 5, “Rat Trap,” Martian has attracted unwanted attention. His daughter Poppy meets an overseas student with an Ma in strongarm tactics, and Danny has some quality time over firearms with Naomi. Throw in British intelligence asking too many questions and Osman peels back the layers of Paul Lewis, and there's discomfort for everyone involved -- including the viewer.
