Along with Dwight Frye, he is one of only two actors to appear in both Dracula (1931) and Frankenstein (1931).

Had two roles in Frankenstein (1931). He played Dr. Waldman and was the man who came out in the prologue to warn movie-goers that the film might be too much.

Stage: Played Van Helsing in the 1927 Broadway production of "Dracula", with Bela Lugosi playing the Count.

His wife and son predeceased him.
