    • Titos Vandis was born on November 7, 1917 in Thessaloniki, Greece. He was an actor and writer, known for Tout ce que vous avez toujours voulu savoir sur le sexe... sans jamais oser le demander (1972), Prosohi, kindynos! (1983) and À l'aube du troisième jour (1962). He was married to Nancy Hall, Eleanore Mahlein, Ketty Asprea, Aleka Paizi, Maria Alkaiou and Betty Valassi. He died on February 23, 2003 in Athens, Greece.

Trivia

  • Often remembered as playing Uncle Karras in L'Exorciste (1973).
  • He was in the running, and even tested, for the title role in the James Bond film Goldfinger (1964). The role went to German actor Gert Fröbe.
  • Earthy Greek player long on the Athens stage and in films before settling in Hollywood in the mid-1960s. Played everything from Greek Orthodox bishops to principled, resilient papas.
  • Titos Vanidis, along with Melina Mercouri and Despo Diamaantidou, all appeared in the Broadway musical version of "Never on Sunday", "illya darling", which ran for 320 performances between April 1967 through January 1968.
  • Was a lifelong supporter of The Communist Party of Greece (KKE).
