Trivia

Alex Van Rooyen

Edit
  • On October 14, 1977, he plays as a guest in the opening piece of the Rotterdam Ro-Theater, where Franz Marijnen is the director. It is his last public role as an actor, in Het huis van Labdakos by Hugo Claus. Franz Marijnen directs and Alex van Royen plays the role of Laïos. From then on, he was only active as a teacher at the RITCS, where he tried - in vain - to change the curriculum.
  • Alex Van Royen was a Flemish actor and theater teacher.
  • In 1954 he immediately got a role at the then 1-year-old Flemish Television, and in 1957 his period at the Dutch Chamber Theatre (NKT) in Antwerp began.
  • He was taught drama and elocution by Ast Fonteyne. He then studied law at the K.U. Leuven and at the same time attended the drama department of the Ghent conservatory, where, among others, the same Ast Fonteyne taught. In Leuven, Van Royen founded a student drama group.
  • He was found dead in his home on an armchair. Van Royen was 57, but had been suffering from heart disease for some time.
