    • Radena Valkanova was born on December 27, 1967 in Sofia. She graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Art, Sofia, Bulgaria in 1991 in the class of Professor Dimitrina Gyurova. Among her roles at theaters are: Charlotte in "Chekhov review" by Chekhov in the Youth Theatre, Sasha in "Ivanov" by Chekhov and Diana in "Trainspotting" by Irvine Welsh in National Palace of Culture, Catherine in "Proof" by D. Auburn, Lora in "Little piece of nursery" and Emma in "Pleasantly Scary" by Yana Borisova at Theatre 199. Since 1991, she is in the company of the National Theatre "Ivan Vazov", where among her main roles are: Lizzie Curry in "Rainmaker "by Nathaniel Richard Nash, Anne in " Madame de Sade "by Yukio Mishima, Opera Singer / Woman waiting tram / Japanese woman in" The Runaway Plane "by Kamen Donev, Hannah Jarvis in" Arcadia " by Tom Stoppard, Mary in "Memory of Water "by Sheila Stevenson, Olivia in" As you please, or Twelfth night "and Hermione in " Winter's tale "by Shakespeare, Liliana Bocevski in" Francesca "by Konstantin Iliev, Angela in" Deer King " by Carlo Gozzi, Characters in "The rifle will shoot after intermission" by Chekhov, Fanny Wilton in "Yun Gabriel Borkman" by Ibsen, Kira Hollis in "Window to heaven" by David Hare, Colombo in "Volpone" by Ben Johnson, Jessica in "The Merchant of Venice" by Shakespeare. She was nominated for the Union of Bulgarian Actor's Award "Ikar" for the role of Olivia in" As you please, or Twelfth night" and for the role of The Soul/The Wizard in "The Fisherman and his Soul" by Oscar Wilde. She was also nominated for the Award "Asker"for the role of "Pleasantly Scary" by Yana Borisova and for the role of Barbara in "August, Ausage County" by Tracy Letts. She is a winner of Bulgarian Film Academy's Award for supporting role in "Night and Day", directed by Krassimir Kroumov.
