Star Wars fans have much to look forward to this spring. Celebration Japan 2025 will no doubt bring exciting announcements, and the second season of Andor has many fans awaiting the show's return. Though, if you're looking for something different, you may want to look at the National Women's Soccer League (Nwsl) for other ways to celebrate the Star Wars fandom.
The National Women's Soccer League and its teams have hosted several themed nights in relation to the franchise and should be doing it this year. In 2019, the Washington Spirit, out of Washington D.C., hosted a Star Wars themed night. They allowed fans who dressed up as their favorite character to be entered for a prize during the evening. The Spirit played the game against the Reign Fc on May 4th, the unofficial holiday of the Star Wars franchise. The game ended in a scoreless 0-0 draw.

With Dark Mattter season 1 exhausting the source material, the events of the upcoming continuation of the show will all be exclusive to the Apple TV+ adaptation. Blake Crouch only wrote one Dark Matter book, so season 2 will be much more unpredictable when compared with the show's inaugural run. However, Dark Matter season 1's ending includes several tantalizing cliffhangers that don't appear in the 2016 novel, and they can be extrapolated to predict some of the potential storylines.
Blake Crouch also serves as the adaptation's showrunner. So, all new introductions and tweaks to the story go through the man who started it all in 2016. Although Crouch made several changes to the live-action adaptation of the Dark Matter book, the overall narrative remained largely the same. That being said, the new characters and fleshed-out storylines will have much more room to flourish in Dark Matter season 2.

By the 1983 release of Return of the Jedi, George Lucas had reached a level of exhaustion he hadn't yet felt in his filmmaking career. Mired in a financially messy divorce from Star Wars editor Marcia Lou Griffin, Lucas had now produced three Star Wars films in a six-year period, along with producing the first Indiana Jones film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, in 1981. While Lucas had notions, throughout the '80s, of approaching another Star Wars trilogy as a prequel, he had only written basic backstories for characters like Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi after preliminary talks with 20th Century Fox about a series of sequels.

Dark Matter season 2 brings exciting possibilities for the Dessen family's interdimensional journey in an awe-inspiring universe. Author Blake Crouch returns as showrunner, expanding the story beyond the book's open ending to explore new and familiar characters. The mysterious Futuristic Chicago universe may hold the key to the Dessens' future, setting the stage for uneasy reunions and romantic tension.
With Dark Matter season 2 now confirmed to be happening, the Apple TV+ show can continue the story of its rich world of characters, including in which corner of the multiverse the Dessen family will settle. Dark Matter season 1's ending showed Jason Dessen and his family opening the door to a new reality, but the finale never reveals the world they're looking at. One theory creates some exciting storylines for the Dark Matter season 2 cast as the saga continues.

VFX artists had mixed reviews on the snow scene in Dark Matter, praising the rendering of the snow but critiquing the fluffy appearance. Season 2 of Dark Matter will introduce more challenging VFX with new and existing universes explored by the characters. Characters in Dark Matter may have to spend more time in stranger universes in season 2 due to unpredictable dangers.
Dark Matter receives mixed reviews from VFX artists when breaking down an important scene. Adapted from Blake Crouch's novel of the same name, Apple TV+'s Dark Matter saw Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) traversing the multiverse as he tries to find a way back to his universe where he can reunite with his family and protect them from an alternate version of himself. During Jason's journey, he encounters many distinct universes, some of which are apocalyptic, and he will encounter more universes in Dark Matter season 2's story.

This post contains spoilers for "Dark Matter."
I recently finished reading Blake Crouch's mind-bending sci-fi novel "Dark Matter," which was adapted into an Apple TV+ show earlier this year. I haven't watched the show yet (I'm planning to catch up with it shortly), but we've called it "the best sci-fi series in years" and that praise makes sense, considering the show is apparently a very faithful adaptation of the largely excellent book. Last Friday, Apple announced that the show will be getting a second season -- a somewhat curious decision, given that the book ends in a place where they easily could have delivered a satisfying story and called it a day.
At the end of the novel, the unwitting multiverse traveler Jason Dessen (played by Joel Edgerton in the show) finally manages to reunite with his real family in his original universe, but he and his wife (Jennifer Connelly...

One of the most mind-bendingly amazing shows of 2024 just got a green light for Season 2. We are talking about the sci-fi thriller drama series Dark Matter, which kept its fans intrigued to the very last minute of its runtime and now the creatives behind the series have the chance to do it all over again.

Sci-fi drama Dark Matter has been renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV+, less than two months after the release of its Season 1 finale.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Dark Matter season 1.
Dark Matter season 1 made unexpected additions to the original novel, setting the stage for potential new storylines if season 2 happens. The show's finale hinted at a continuation with the tease of a second season, despite being marketed as a limited series. With no more source material to work from, the success of Dark Matter season 2 will depend on fresh additions while staying true to the established lore.
Dark Matter season 1 ended largely in a way that I expected, but it also made additions to the original novel that I absolutely did not expect. 2016's Dark Matter by Blake Crouch is one of my favorite books of all time. Generally, I don't tend to read a book more than once, but when Apple TV+'s show was about to begin, I decided to revisit the source material. This way, I could monitor any divergences,...

[Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Dark Matter Season 1.]Apple TV+'s sci-fi adaptation Dark Matter has concluded Season 1, but is that all there is to the story? According to author and showrunner Blake Crouch and executive producer Matt Tolmach (Venom: The Last Dance), yes, Season 1 was created to be "the best representation of the book as possible." However, a series format opens a whole box of possibilities, and Crouch isn't opposed to exploring more characters. In fact, maybe that even leaves room to revisit Alice Braga's (Queen of the South) fan-favorite, Amanda Lucas?...

I was kind of inclined to believe that Dark Matter is science fiction, but after watching the penultimate episode, I’ve changed my mind. It is more of a drama about a person who wanted to change his reality. And therefore, he spent a lifetime building a machine to help his cause. Jason2 had a close-to-perfect life, yet he wasn’t a happy man. His biggest regret in life was not marrying Daniela when she got pregnant with his child. He always asked himself: Did he choose the perfect path? Jason1, on the other hand, was a flawed man, but he was content with whatever he had. He loved Daniela and Charlie without any negativity holding him back, and that’s what made his pursuit of happiness perfect. But chuck it; you already know that, so let’s address what you are here for: the curious case of multiple Jasons.

Spoilers are ahead for Dark Matter episode 7.
When Jason2 abandons Ryan in another dimension, the northern lights fill the sky above Chicago. Amanda decides to make a new home for herself in an alternate Chicago, which also boasts northern lights, suggesting Amanda and Ryan are in the same dimension. The upcoming confrontation between Jason and Jason2 may lead to unexpected alliances between Jason, Ryan, and Amanda, as well as more dimension-hopping in the show's finale.
Dark Matter episode 7, "In the Fires of Dead Stars," features a blink-and-you'll-miss-it background detail that teases a huge end-of-the-season alliance. The fact that more twists are in store for physics professor-turned-universe-hopper Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) is really saying something, as the Apple TV+ sci-fi series is one of the streamer's more mind-bending programs. Blake Crouch and Jacque Ben-Zekry explain how Dark Matter goes beyond science fiction and the television shows that inspired the family drama and thriller elements. They revealed how the series goes beyond the page with characters and stories expanded from the original novel. The final episodes promise a mind-blowing roller coaster ride for viewers.
Dark Matter has been an emotional roller coaster for scientist Jason Dessen, who was abducted from his world and dropped into an alternate reality by that world's version of him. As he desperately searches for a way home with the help of Amanda Lucas, the other version of himself has stepped into his life, but it isn't as easy as he may believe. Things come to a head when Jason finally returns home, but new threats reveal themselves, meaning that the horrors aren't yet over as he tries to reunite and protect his family.

Finally, Jason1 and Amanda were getting somewhere.
Sadly, that ended up being two separate locations on Dark Matter (2024) Season 1 Episode 7.
It was rewarding to watch how Amanda came to find herself a new home.
She finally heeded Blair2's advice on Dark Matter (2024) Season 1 Episode 5, which told her to find a world of her own.
FBI Season 7: Cast and Character Guide
Amanda burned bridges with her dimension when she helped Jason1 to escape from Velocity Lab.
So she needed to land someplace new.
That likely explained why she kept checking on her namesakes in every world on which they landed.
Amanda certainly deserved better from life than she had gotten.
Her Jason (Jason2) was more in love with his research than he was with her.
Then, when he decided he required domestic bliss, he found a Jason who had married a Daniela rather than starting a family with Amanda.

Last year, Ewan McGregor returned to Star Wars in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series, and it further solidified his lasting legacy in the franchise. Outside the role of Obi-Wan, McGregor has a deep connection to the franchise due to his family’s appearances in different Star Wars projects. While other Star Wars legends like Mark Hamill had his three children cameo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, McGregor’s familial links to Star Wars are a bit more prominent.
Other prominent names in Star Wars have had their family make cameos, like George Lucas, who had all three of his children, Amanda, Katie, and Jett, appear throughout the prequel trilogy; Amanda Lucas even had multiple roles across all three of the films. More recently, Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd played Lieutenant Connix in all three of the sequel films, and also served as the body stand-in as Princess Leia...

SyFy has really been amping up their reality TV programming lately. EW reports that the channel has announced a new show called Robot Combat League, which will be similar to a real-life version of last year's Real Steel. The giant robots will be controlled by shadowboxing operators whose movements are translated to their bots. WWE wrestler Chris Jericho will host the festivities.
SyFy President Mark Stern explained, "It has always been our desire — and it’s really come around perennially — to update and do Battle Bots for the new century. Can we do Real Steel? Are we at a place where you can do real bipedal robots? Every time we tried to to do it, [the project] was stymied by the technology.”
Here is a description of the show from EW:

The Origin Film? Whoop-doo!
The origin film has dominated the box office for most of May. We learned how Wolverine got his claws, how James T. Kirk came to captain the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, how John Connor came to lead the Resistance, and how Robert Langdon settled for that goofy-ass hairdo. Despite these tales being repetitive and unnecessary, they've pulled in record grosses. Some have been enthralling; others have left their fans irate. But all have been successful on some level. That can only mean one thing in Hollywood: More of the same. For each origin film that tops $100 million in ticket sales, another five are being placed into production. Why are they so popular? Because they breed familiarity. They are an easy sale item. Even though we know these epic myths and legends by heart, that won't stop some lofty director from churning them out...
