    Had a habit of cracking up on the set of the Benny Hill Show, beginning with a giggle which would then become fits of laughter infecting the rest of the crew. He was also prone to drunkenness, but seemed to be one of those people who could work quite well, even when under the influence. However, one one occasion he went on a bender for five days, having left a performance at the London Palladium, and waking up in a Dublin hospital. Hill consequently dropped him from the show for several seasons.
