Image
"And now whatever way our stories end, I know you have rewritten mine by being my friend…"

Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Wicked: For Good, which will serve as both the second part of a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and a retelling of the classic tale.

Part 1 was a big hit with fans and critics alike, and took in an impressive $744.07 million worldwide. This may not sound like too much when you consider that some blockbusters are still clearing a billion, but it was enough to make the movie the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical.

The trailer finds friends turned adversaries Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) - now known as the "Wicked Witch of the West" and the "Good Witch of the East" - reuniting after spending years on opposing sides. Will their reforged alliance last as the "Wonderful Wizard of...

Wicked: For Good will be ‘delicate’ with Dorothy, director Jon M. Chu says
‘Wicked: For Good’ director Jon M. Chu has insisted the movie will be "delicate" with Dorothy Gale. The upcoming blockbuster - which will follow on from the events on 2024’s ‘Wicked’ - will introduce the young girl from Kansas as she embarks on her journey down the Yellow Brick Road, and while Chu, 45, has said Dorothy will have a more prominent arrival in the flick than she does in the stage play of which ‘Wicked: For Good’ is based on, the filmmaker emphasised they would "tread lightly" around the character.Speaking to Vanity Fair about Dorothy and her crew’s walk down the Yellow Brick Road, Chu said: "That intersection is the place that we were first introduced to Oz."We tread lightly, but try to make more sense of how it impacts our girls and our characters than maybe the show does."He added: "We’re delicate. We’re delicate.

Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) are finally reunited after going their separate ways at the end of director Jon M. Chu’s must-see Wicked in 2024. Yes, the official Wicked: For Good trailer has finally dropped online after being previewed for attendees at a special screening of the first movie on the West Coast - hence the late night arrival for most other people. Clocking in at nearly three-minutes, the trailer begins with the two iconic friends meeting in the shadows, before Elphaba begins chanting out an all-important spell heard while she sings "No Good Deed," which originally debuted in the hit Broadway show.

‘Wicked: For Good’ Trailer: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Get Ready to Meet Dorothy
Image
Oscar-nominated “Wicked” stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are ready to close out the musical epic for good. The duo reprise their respective roles of Glinda and Elphaba for Part Two, “Wicked: For Good,” directed by Jon M. Chu. And this time, Oz will have a new visitor: Dorothy (Alisha Weir).

“Wicked: For Good” spans a series of years, beginning with Erivo’s Elphaba Aka the Wicked Witch now being an enemy of the state. Glinda (formerly Galinda) is the spokesperson for Oz thanks to her appointment by the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum), with her former teacher Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) literally singing her praises. Glinda also just might have a wedding on the horizon to Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero, despite him blatantly lusting after Elphaba. This all leads into when Dorothy’s house flies into Oz and the iconic “Wizard of Oz” character walks the yellow brick road.

‘Wicked: For Good’ Trailer Welcomes Fans Back to Oz for Part 2
Image
Like a comet pulled from orbit, Universal has changed the trajectory of “Wicked” fans’ lives for good with Wednesday’s “Wicked: For Good” trailer.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande return as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively, in Jon M. Chu’s musical sequel, which is set to premiere on Nov. 21. The movie will come out almost one year to the day after “Wicked: Part 1” premiered on Nov. 22, 2024.

The trailer showcases several songs, including “No Good Deed” and “For Good,” and teases how the central characters’ relationship has changed since Elphaba’s high-flying exit from Oz at the end of the first film. Will Elphaba and Glinda end up working together to stop the Wizard? How does Fiyero’s heart fit into all of this? And what’s that glimpse at the Cowardly Lion from “The Wizard of Oz” doing there? We’ll find out all the answers we need later this year.

Wicked: For Good Continues the Magical Journey With First Trailer
Image
In 2024, Jon M. Chu adapted the award-winning stage musical Wicked into a feature film. Along the way, the filmmaker decided to split the adaptation into a two-part musical to do justice to the story. allowing him to further expand and flesh out the characters and the universe.

Following the success of the first part, Wicked, the sequel is set to premiere this November. Originally titled Wicked: Part Two, the musical was renamed Wicked: For Good, which is a reference to the second-to-last song in the musical's Act 2, a powerful duet between Glinda and Elphaba. After a long wait, Universal Pictures officially released the Wicked: For Good trailer, which can be seen below.

While 2024's Wicked followed Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba's journey to understanding her magic, the sequel will have everyone against her as she is dubbed the "Wicked Witch of the West." At the same time, the first film followed...

Wicked For Good Poster Takes Us Back To Oz - Here's When Today's Trailer Will Be Released
Image
Following yesterday's teaser, the hope that the first Wicked For Good trailer would be released this morning. Instead, a new poster has just landed that takes us back to Oz and reunites Elphaba and Glinda.

Where's the trailer? Well, it won't debut online until tonight because fans attending the one-night-only Wicked screenings will be treated to the sneak peek before anyone else.

It's doubtful that Universal Pictures will want to see bootlegs flood social media, so it may drop mid-afternoon Pt time, shortly after the musical returns to theaters. Making it a theater-exclusive, even if it's for a short time, is a smart move on the studio's part as these screenings will add to Wicked's already impressive $755 million worldwide haul.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Vanity Fair published an interview with filmmaker Jon M. Chu earlier today, and he revealed more about how Wicked For Good differs from its predecessor.

Wicked For Good Gets A Spellbinding Trailer Teaser Ahead Of Tomorrow's Long-Awaited Trailer Debut

Wicked grossed $729 million at the worldwide box office last year, becoming the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation of all time. The movie was shot back-to-back with the sequel, meaning there's not long to wait before Wicked: For Good swoops into theaters this November.

That's likely to be an even bigger hit ($1 billion may be a given), and there's already chatter on social media about Universal Pictures plotting various spin-offs and expansions of the musical.

As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, it's been confirmed that the first Wicked For Good trailer will be released tomorrow. The news comes our way thanks to a trailer teaser featuring an official look at many of the movie's returning leads and their updated costumes.

Unsurprisingly, Wicked: For Good looks very much in line with its predecessor and, as this is a "Part Two" following a bona fide box office hit, Universal is likely to take an "if it's ain't broke,...

Wicked: For Good Teaser Shows The Cracks Beginning To Form In Emerald City
Image
Universal Pictures and director Jon M. Chu's Wicked sequel, which was recently re-titled Wicked: For Good, is set to take flight this November, and on the clicked heels of the first official poster, the studio has released a (very) brief teaser.

There's nothing very revealing in the video, which simply shows some glass cracking in the foundation of The Wizard of Oz's Royal Palace before setting a reminder that the sequel will be with us six months from now.

The first movie concluded with a rift starting to form between Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande), as Oz (Jeff Goldblum) and the duplicitous Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) begin to propagandize against "The Wicked Witch of the West."

Check out the teaser at the link below.

Wicked: For Good - Glinda And Elphaba Stand Opposed On First Official Poster For Jon M. Chu's Sequel
Image
Universal and director Jon M. Chu's Wicked sequel, which was recently re-titled Wicked: For Good, is set to take flight this November, and the first poster has now been officially released online after it was originally spotted in the wild at CinemaCon back in March.

The one-sheet features friends turned adversaries Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) facing-off on opposing cliffsides as Madame Morrible's (Michelle Yeoh) flying monkeys approach in the background.

Part 1 took in an impressive $744.07 million worldwide, which may not sound like too much when you consider that some blockbusters are still clearing a billion, but it was enough to make the movie the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical.

In a recent interview, Chu described his sequel as a “doozy,” adding: “I did not know the context of where we’d be in society right now. It becomes eight times more relevant than...

First Look at ‘Wicked: For Good’ Wows CinemaCon with Magic, Music, and Flying Monkeys
Image
The magical world of Oz returned to the big screen in a big way at this year’s CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande gave fans and theater owners the first sneak peek at Wicked: For Good, the sequel to last year’s hit musical film Wicked.

The new movie continues the story of Elphaba and Glinda, the two witches whose friendship and struggles are at the heart of the Wicked tale. This time, Elphaba is on the run, labeled a criminal by the Wizard, while Glinda is caught in the middle, unsure of where her loyalties lie.

The trailer showed Elphaba mastering her powers from the magical book known as the Grimmerie. She’s now a fugitive, while the Wizard (played by Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) tighten their grip on Oz. “Elphaba, they’re coming for you,” Glinda warns in a tense moment.

No Good Deed Goes Unpunished in Exclusive ‘Wicked: For Good’ Sneak Peek at CinemaCon
Image
CinemaCon audiences have been changed for good today. During Universal’s presentation at the annual event, attendees caught their first glimpse at the second half of the story that captivated theatergoers at the very end of last year. Aptly dubbed Wicked: For Good (a nod to one of the tunes in the musical’s second act), the next and final chapter in the story sings, dances, and defies gravity on its way into cinemas on November 21. Those who are already familiar with the musical or the book on which the film is based have a good idea of what’s coming next, but there are plenty of magical moments around the corner, with the Jon M. Chu-helmed movie adding some bits and pieces that weren’t in the original story.

Here's what we saw in the room at CinemaCon:

Glinda can sense Elphaba’s presence and wills her to...

‘Wicked: For Good’ Trailer Wows CinemaCon, From Cynthia Erivo Belting ‘No Good Deed’ to Dorothy’s Arrival in Oz
Image
Like a seed dropped by a skybird, “Wicked” stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo and director Jon M. Chu returned (presumably by bubble) to Las Vegas for CinemaCon, the annual convention for movie theater owners.

The Oscar-nominated duo, each donning striking all-black outfits, introduced the first-ever look at “Wicked: For Good,” which chronicles the second act of the long-running Broadway sensation. Grande and Erivo didn’t sing live as their signature characters — the perky, pink-loving Glinda and green-skinned Elphaba — but audiences got to hear their soaring takes on second act favorites like “For Good” and “No Good Deed.”

Set before, during and after the events of “The Wizard of Oz,” the musical recounts the origin story of Grande’s Glinda (later known as Glinda the Good) and Erivo’s Elphaba (eventually dubbed the Wicked Witch of the West) before Dorothy landed in Oz and sauntered down the Yellow Brick Road.

‘Wicked: For Good’ First Footage: Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande Feud Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Image
Only a month from when “Wicked” wrapped up its awards season run at the Academy Awards and seven months ahead of its release in theaters, “Wicked: For Good” is ready to bring us back down the yellow brick road. Part two of the hit Broadway musical adaptation follows heroine Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) as the people of Oz are manipulated into reviling her, and best friend Glinda (Ariana Grande) is forced to become a mouthpiece for the opposition led by Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) and the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).

The crowd at CinemaCon got its first look at some of the footage from the film on Wednesday during Universal’s presentation, as well as a live performance of a medley of some of the music from the show as performed by a 43-piece orchestra conducted by Rickey Minor. “Wicked: For Good” opens in theaters November 21, 2025.

‘Wicked: For Good’: CinemaCon Trailer Shows an Oz Lost in Darkness
Image
Universal put forth one of the biggest marketing campaigns this side of “Barbie” last year for “Wicked,” and it was rewarded with the biggest box office returns ever seen for a Broadway musical adaptation.

Now Elphaba and Glinda themselves, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, are back at CinemaCon with “Wicked: For Good,” director Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of the second act of the legendary musical that tells the story behind the Wicked Witch of the West.

As anyone who has seen the musical knows, the second act is much darker than the first, filled with tragedy. The CinemaCon sneak peek showed this, as we return to an Oz lost in darkness, with Elphaba plotting to expose the manipulative Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) while Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) turns Glinda into a propaganda figure against her former friend.

In the first trailer shown exclusively at CinemaCon, we see Glinda in a...

First ‘Wicked: For Good’ Poster Spotted at CinemaCon
Image
Oh, what a celebration Wicked fans will have today, as the first look at the Wicked: For Good poster has been spotted at CinemaCon.

The second installment in Jon M. Chu’s big screen adaptation of the award-winning Broadway musical is slated to arrive in theaters in November. In the poster, the two witches from Oz, Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba and Ariana Grande’s Glinda (formerly known as Galinda), stand atop their own cliff’s edge. The yellow brick road and the wizard’s palace in Oz, the setting for part one’s grand “Defying Gravity” finale, separates them in the middle.

Erivo’s Elphaba looks right at home in her full “wicked witch” glory, while Grande’s Glinda resembles the Glinda the Good fans of The Wizard of Oz are used to. The poster’s tagline, “You will be changed,” is a reference to the iconic duet from...

A Deleted Wicked Scene Reveals If Boq Really Loved Nessarose
Image
This article contains potential spoilers for "Wicked: For Good."

The grand finale of "Wicked" sees Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) making peace with her own passionate sense of self-worth, which causes the magical prodigy to finally soar above the Emerald City and proclaim that no amount of fear-mongering will shatter who she is. At the same time, Glinda (Ariana Grande) anxiously accepts her position as the official propaganda mouthpiece of Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh). The dual parting of ways presents a compelling cliffhanger that precedes what we already know leads to tragedy.

The framework for the Elphaba-Glinda dynamic is so front and center, however, that it almost makes you forget there's another emotional cliffhanger that's arguably just as important to the upcoming sequel "Wicked: For Good."

When we last see Ethan Slater's Boq, he's among the evacuating students at Shiz University, while Marissa Bode's Nessarose discovers her father, the mayor of Munchkinland,...
