  • Father: Hugo Thimig (1854-1944) actor, director and manager of the Burgtheater in Vienna (1912-1918).
  • Vienna-born character actress from a renown acting family who fled the Nazis with husband, theatre producer/director Max Reinhardt, sought refuge in Hollywood, and appeared in minor ethnic roles in film intrigue and melodrama. An important German stage actress prior to the takeover, she subsequently returned to Vienna in 1948 a widow, and found sporadic work in films before retiring.
  • Stepmother of Gottfried Reinhardt.
  • Second wife and widow of Max Reinhardt.
  • She returned to Austria after the war and continued her impressive theater career.
  • Older sister of Hans Thimig (actor, 1900-1991) and Hermann Thimig (actor, 1890-1982).
  • She made her film debut in 1932 with "Mensch ohne Namen" and was her only German movie till the end of war.
  • Helene Thimig concentrated always to the theater and only appeared sporadically in front of the camera.
  • In Berlin she met the important theater director Max Reinhardt in 1917. They had a long lasting relationship and after the divorce of Max Reinhardt from the actress Else Heims they got married in 1935.
  • Her career led her from Meiningen to the royal Schauspielhaus Berlin and finally to the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
