Aside from her movie career, Joan Tetzel was well known as a Broadway and London stage actress. She played Nurse Ratched in the Broadway production of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest". During the early 1970s, she appeared in the London play "How The Other Half Loves". She had guest roles in such American television series as Outlaws (1960), Perry Mason (1957), Thriller (1960), and Sergent Anderson (1974). A noted stage actress, her picture appeared on the front cover of Life Magazine on February 14, 1948. She died in Sussex, England, from cancer on October 31, 1977, aged 56.
