Tracker spoilers and updates reveal Season 2 concluded with Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) discovering surprising information regarding his father’s death.
Yet, a new set of questions has emerged that may serve as a foundation for Season 3 of the popular CBS series; what insights does showrunner Elwood Reid provide about Season 3?
Reid Talked About Season Three
Recently, Elwood Reid, the showrunner of Tracker, talked to TV Line regarding Season 3. He was asked whether they intend to develop ongoing story arcs alongside the weekly cases.
His response was complex and suggests a lot of excitement, however, he began by warning that this is a “long season,” thus, they must “parcel” out some of the extended storyline. If everything is revealed too soon, “you’ve got nowhere to go.”
Next, he discussed an early episode from Season 2, titled “The Night Movers;” in this episode, Colter is searching for individuals and encounters someone who assists people in hiding.

Stop us if you've heard this one: a TV show about a stoic loner who wanders the country righting wrongs is burning up the streaming charts. But here's the twist: that show is not Prime Video's Reacher. Instead, Tracker, which just concluded its second season on CBS, is currently climbing the rankings on Paramount+. The series stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a survivalist and tracker (of course) who earns a living as a "rewardist." The series is currently ranked #6 and rising among Paramount+'s top TV shows: on top is Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren's new crime drama, MobLand, while rookie soap opera Beyond the Gates, the just-renewed The Chi, Taylor Sheridan's new oater Landman, and venerable serial killer procedural Criminal Minds round out the top five.

The second season of Tracker ended its run this past Sunday with Colter Shaw returning home to Echo Ridge. While Justin Hartley's Colter was back in his hometown to solve a case involving missing children from across the country, the world-famous rewardist eventually stumbled upon a world-shattering discovery of his own in the season finale. The CBS procedural has already been renewed for a third season which will certainly look to unpack what the newly unraveled Shaw family secret means for Colter and his siblings. Now, we know when production begins on the new season. Shworunner Elwood Reid, in a conversation with Screen Rant, has revealed that production on Tracker Season 3 will kick off later this year, in July.
"Yeah, we will be back in two weeks," Reid said, referencing the return of the show's writers' room, "and we start filming in July. I think it's the 16th or something like that.

The second season of Tracker has completed its run and with its season finale came an earth-shattering revelation regarding the circumstances behind the death of Ashton Shaw (Lee Tergesen). It is a moment that negatively impacted the Shaw family in the Justin Hartley-led CBS procedural. The drama has been renewed for a third season and while Hartley's Colter and his siblings will have to deal with this new piece of information somehow, the upcoming season will also look to flesh out another character. Fiona Rene's Reenie Greene has been a mainstay since the series premiered in 2024. Despite working as legal counsel for Colter and their occasional romantic tension, not much has been revealed about the character. Showrunner Elwood Reid reveals that is all about to change in Season 3.

The hit CBS drama series Tracker ended its second season run this past Sunday with an episode titled "Echo Ridge." The Justin Hartley-led CBS procedural ended on a spicy cliffhanger as Hartley's Colter Shaw finally meets the one responsible for pushing his father, Ashton Shaw (Lee Tergesen), to his death. While Otto (Shane Leydon) might have shoved Ashton off the cliff, the episode reveals that Colter's mother, Mary (Wendy Crewson), was the mastermind. It's likely to be an earth-shattering moment for Colter when Season 3 arrives, and showrunner Elwood Reid has teased what comes next for Colter and his family.
“I think Colter is going to get an answer; he’s going to get some lies," Reid tells The Hollywood Reporter. "I mean, look, it’s families. Families are fucking messy. Family will lie to your face. What’s interesting about Colter, it’s like, what does he do...

[This story contains spoilers from the season two finale of Tracker.]
It was inevitable. Two seasons of the CBS hit action drama, Tracker, starring Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, found the protagonist, a nationwide finder of missing people, never quite able to solve the mystery of who killed his father many decades ago when he was a teenager. The tragic event has lingered with and haunted Colter all the way into adulthood and alienated him from much of his family.
For many years, Colter blamed his older brother Russell Shaw (Jensen Ackles) for seemingly having a direct impact on their father, Ashton (Lee Tergesen), falling off of a cliff to his death in the woods near the town of “Echo Ridge” (also the name of the final episode). Ashton, a brilliant professor at Berkeley University, moved his wife, Mary Dove (Wendy Crewson) and their three children (sister Dory played by Melissa Roxburgh rounds out the siblings) to live off the...

The HBO limited series "Band of Brothers" was the most expensive television miniseries at the time, recreating the American military unit Easy Company's European activities during World War II. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, the series provided an expansive and factually grounded account of American combat involvement in Western Europe during the war. Like Spielberg and Hanks' previous collaboration, the award-winning "Saving Private Ryan," "Band of Brothers" was praised for its stellar cast, realistic action, and expert attention towards historical authenticity. The series still sets the bar of quality for military shows, of any conflict, though there are a number of similar shows fans should check out next.

Every episode of Tracker introduces a new missing persons case from a different location in the U.S. for survivalist Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) to tackle. The one case that has loomed over his head for decades, however, is that of the death of his father. Throughout the series, namely the first season, bits and pieces about Ashton’s (Lee Tergesen) mysterious death have come together.
In Season 2, Episode 13, titled “Neptune,” a new character is sort of introduced that might not completely disappear now that this case is done. In fact, some suspect, or at least hope that he might be a missing link to bring everything about Ashton Shaw to light.

CBS's captivating procedural series Trackerwas an instant hit with audiences when it debuted back in 2024, and its popularity doesn't seem to be slowing down. Despite still being in the middle of the show's second season, the network has already confirmed that it's been picked up for Season 3.
Based on the novel The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver, Tracker follows expert survivalist Colter Shaw, portrayed by This Is Us and Smallville star Justin Hartley, as he employs his unique skillset to make a living by finding missing people and stolen items for reward money. Even though the series uses an episodic format that viewers have seen several times over when it comes to similar detective dramas, its narrative structure also includes an ongoing storyline surrounding Colter's past — pulling audiences back each week as its mystery slowly unravels.

Viewers are adoring Tracker, an action drama starring Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, a loner survivalist who works with a remote team to track down missing persons in exchange for reward money. His childhood growing up with an eccentric dad who taught his kids how to survive in the wilderness helped him hone his skills but also largely played into the lifestyle he chose.
Colter is never in one place for long, traveling the country in his truck with an Airstream trailer he calls home. There is an overarching story that bleeds into every episode, however, about Colter’s childhood and the mysterious death of his father. In the latest Season 2 episode, fans got a little more detail about his life growing up. It wasn’t much. But the nugget suggests more could be coming.

Tracker offers a great mix of traditional procedural and high-action drama. The series, based on the Jeffrey Deaver novel The Never Game, has drawn comparisons to Reacher. Rewardist Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) has a bit of a different, challenging case to tackle in the March 16 episode of Tracker. In “Neptune,” Colter travels to New York City to find a woman who vanished in the dressing room of an upscale clothing store. “Colter is hired by the husband of the missing woman after the police believe she just walked out on him,” executive producer Elwood Reid previews. “Colter doesn’t find any signs of foul play, yet the circumstances of this disappearance are bizarre. Colter must figure out how and why this young wife vanished before larger, more sinister forces find him,” he continues. Having this case set in New York City does bring its own complications. Colter will have to “face the challenges of tracking in a major metropolis,” says Reid. Since the beginning of the show, Colter has been coping with a very personal unsolved mystery: the death of his father,...

FBI Season 7, Episode 13, "Unearth" is another Stuart Scola-centric episode, which would be great news if not for how it torments Scola even further. It was only a few episodes ago that Scola had to revisit his brother's death in the September 11 terrorist attacks, and now he learns a sad fact about one of his childhood friends. John Boyd is once again wonderful in the role, but it feels like too soon to go back to the same well of trauma.
"Unearth" involves the murders of two federal jurors, which the authorities initially believe is the work of the Italian mafia.

Season 2 of the hit CBS action drama Tracker finds its hero Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) facing plenty of conflict in his personal life and his job as an elite tracker, but the structure of the sophomore season thus far has made it really hard to care. Colter tackles a different weekly case, including missing family members, a lost dog, organized crime, and supernatural elements. The expert survivalist himself even went missing until Colter's brother Russell (Jensen Ackles) tracked him down and assisted in finding another missing man in episode 2, "Ontological Shock."
Aside from reuniting with Russell, Colter also has a few personal unsolved cases that haven't been given enough depth for the audience to care about fully yet. These include the Shaw family mystery regarding the death of the tracker's father, Ashton (Lee Tergesen), along with the white whale case involving the decade-long disappearance of Gina Picket. The Tracker season 2 fall finale, "The Night Movers," finally moves the needle on Colter Shaw's Gina Picket case, but the outing may have been better if it focused on its weekly case instead. Tracker, the most-watched TV show of the 2023-2024 season (breaking NCIS' 5-year streak), returned for its sophomore season to high expectations, and understandably so. Marking Justin Hartley's first post-This Is Us series, Tracker follows its titular character as he roams the country for missing people's cases. In season 2, however, the CBS procedural seems to be struggling to find its identity.

Attention all fans of '90's cinema and off-the-wall action, please take note: Point Break is leaving Netflix on December 1st of this year. The film — which stars Keanu Reeves as FBI agent Johnny Utah and Patrick Swayze as surfer and criminal Bodhi — is essential viewing for anyone who likes action that leaves you at the edge of your seat, and incredibly compelling character dynamics that pull you into a world of thievery done just for the thrill of it.
Rather than simply being a conventional game of cat-and-mouse between cop and robber — such as venerated classics like Michael Mann's Heat — Point Break is groundbreaking in its commitment to entangling Reeves' character Johnny with the mastermind Bodhi. The criminal has an alluring philosophy, one of constantly chasing the ultimate thrill, and it draws the undercover cop into their dangerous lifestyle. Prime Video's Reacher became an instant hit with audiences when it was released in 2022. Warning! Spoilers ahead for Tracker, season 2, episode 4, "Noble Rot."After Tracker season 2, episode 4, it's time to officially ask Justin Hartley's show to not waste its best character. CBS' record-breaking procedural immediately made waves when it premiered in early 2024. Hartley plays Colter Shaw, a rewardist who roams the country to find missing people. While he is the titular character in the series and he operates on the ground mostly alone, the series has a good cast surrounding Hartley. Colter's team is small, but all of its members are very good at their jobs. They provide mostly remote support for the rewardist as he tackles dangerous cases.

Spoiler Alert for Tracker season 2, episode 4, "Noble Rot"Justin Harltey's Colter Shaw has taken on several cases in Tracker season 2, but episode 4 includes a villain twist that makes it better. Season 2 started with an old unsolved missing person's case that haunts Colter. The case sticks with the rewardist as it goes unsolved, similar to the mystery of who killed Colter's father in Tracker. The death of the Shaw family patriarch defines Colter's story. In episode 2, Jensen Ackles returned as Russell Shaw. The brother went looking for Colter on a mysterious Department of Defense site after he went missing looking for a lost person.
Tracker season 2, episode 3, continued to bring back guest stars, returning Sofia Pernas as Billie Matalon. The "rewardists" investigated a case in the female reward-seeker's hometown. The Tracker cases have all been relatively straightforward, and there haven't been any plot twists that complicate a case beyond what could be expected.

Given Tracker's massive success, it wouldn't be surprising if CBS ordered a spinoff, and the show laid out the perfect idea for one during the season 2 premiere. The action drama is based on Jeffery Dever's 2019 book The Never Game. Its story follows Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw, an expert tracker (as the show's name suggests) and survivalist, who is hired by private citizens and law enforcement agencies across the country. However, Colter has a team to help him, including Robin Weigert as Teddi Bruin, Abby McEnany as Velma Bruin, Eric Graise as Bobby Exley, and Fiona Rene as Reenie Greene.
Together, the Tracker characters solve cases every episode, while still dealing with personal issues, of course. One of the series' central storylines revolves around the will-they/won't-they romance between Colter and Reenie. The two characters have a romantic history, but Colter isn't in a good place to date anyone.

Tracker star Justin Hartley recently discussed the upcoming second season, revealing his expectations for the show's continued exploration of Colter Shaw's relationship with his on-screen brother, Russell (Jensen Ackles). Russell Shaw will feature more prominently in Tracker Season 2, which premieres on October 27.
In an interview with Collider, Hartley addressed what he would like to see with the relationship between the brothers in Tracker Season 2, given the family bombshell that was dropped on Colter in the first season. "When Colter finds out exactly whats going on and I've struggled with that because there are so many different ways to skin this cat and I don't know which way is better or more interesting and he learns the absolute, undeniable truth," he said. "Does he find out from his sister? Is it from his brother? Is it his mother? Is it a combination of all three? Is it none of them? Is...

Jensen Ackles is best known for his role as Dean Winchester in the longtime CW fantasy series Supernatural. Since then, he joined several other projects, including the CBS hit drama Tracker, which just returned with Season 2.
Ackles plays Russell Shaw, Colter Shaw's brother, who is the lead character, played by This Is Us star Justin Hartley. The actor made his debut on the CBS series in Season 1 and has a recurring guest star role in Season 2. Ackles just appeared in Episode 2, which premiered on the channel on Oct. 20, and his return featured a very sneaky Supernatural reference, as reported by People.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Tracker season 2, episode 2.A new character introduced in Tracker season 2, episode 2, has significant consequences for Russell Shaws vindication plot. In the penultimate episode of Tracker season 1, Jensen Ackles debuted as the older Shaw brother. When Russell appeared in Tracker, little was known about the character other than Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) believed that Russell killed their father. However, when Ackles offered Russells side of the story. What Russell told Colter in Tracker season 1 began to clear his name for the murder of his father, and season 2 continues the trend.
Russell was a good theory option for who killed Colters father in Tracker, since Colter found him standing at the top of the cliff with Ashton dead at the bottom. That said, Russell told Colter that there was someone else in the woods the night their father died. While Colter never officially confirmed his changing opinion, he...

Tracker features many exciting guest stars, but perhaps the most memorable is Jensen Ackles, who sadly doesn't reprise his role as Russell Shaw in the season 2 premiere. The CBS action drama revolves around Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw, a survivalist and expert tracker who uses his skills to help private citizens and law enforcement agencies across the country. Outside his work, Colter's life, most notably his past, is full of drama and intrigue in Tracker. His brother, Russell, plays a significant role in the biggest mystery that has haunted Colter since childhood.
Following a 13-episode first season, Tracker season 2 will contain 22 episodes and airs on Sundays at 8 pm Et on CBS.
When Colter and Russell were younger, their father, Ashton Shaw, mysteriously died. Colter found Ashton's lifeless body at the bottom of a cliff and saw Russell standing at the top. After that day, Colter believed, for several years, that...

A new clip from Tracker season 2 has been released, revealing Jensen Ackles' return as Russell Shaw, saving his brother Colter (Justin Hartley) when they stop to recharge. Ackles joined the cast of Tracker as a guest star in season 1, portraying Colters estranged brother, who he blamed for the death of their father, Ashton (Lee Tergesen). However, the pair made up when they reconnected, building a level of trust between the brothers once more. With his return in season 2 solidified, it was only a matter of time before they worked together again.

Coming off of a hot first season, Tracker season 2 has a lot to live up to, and while I was first disappointed by its trailer, more information about the episodes suggests that the video doesn't accurately represent what's to come. The CBS action drama was a major success during its first run of 13 episodes. After its premiere following the Super Bowl, Tracker went on to become the most-watched scripted series of the 20232024 season. While accomplishing this feat was impressive, it also means that many are holding Tracker season 2 to a higher standard.
Tracker season 2, which will contain 22 episodes, is set to premiere on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 8 p.m. Et on CBS.
Part of what made Tracker season 1 so popular was its serialized storyline concerning what happened to Ashton Shaw. Of course, the TV show's main draw is Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw using his survivalist and tracking skills to solve episodic cases.

When we think of monsters on this channel, most of the time its from a fictional, mythical, or legendary monster like the Mummy, Wolfman, Dracula, or Frankenstein’s Monster. On this specific show, however, a Monster can take on a whole new meaning. I joke that half of these episodes will be about reportedly true possessions and while that will probably hold fast, there is another type of monster we have discussed a few times. The guy that loosely inspired the Scream killings, Henry from Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, and today’s subject Aileen Wuornos. The movie made about her is literally called Monster and put director Patty Jenkins and star Charlize Theron, at least in terms of her being seen as an A list actor who can actually act, on the map. It’s a straightforward telling of a murderer that of course adds nuance and even...

The CBS series Tracker was an instant hit for the network, drawing high acclaim and strong reviews with its first season's premiere earlier this year. While the show was quick to become popular, fans shouldn't expect to see any companion shows going into development just yet.
Per TVLine, showrunner and executive producer Elwood Reid suggested that a spinoff won't be happening anytime soon. While Reid has been hearing suggestions about spinning off the show to create a larger franchise, but he's not convinced that going down that road so early would be such a good idea. Reid noted how Tracker doesn't have the same restrictions as police procedurals, so there's still plenty left to explore in the show before feeling the need to branch out with a spinoff.

CBS is only a month away from debuting the second season of Tracker, but Justin Hartley, who stars as Colter Shaw and serves as an executive producer, has already evidently confirmed the show won't end after season 2. Tracker season 2 is on the way, and to build hype for the upcoming episodes, CBS released a trailer that teases one significant aspect of the series but unfortunately ignores the best part of the story. The CBS action drama, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on Jeffery Deaver's The Never Game and follows Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw. Colter is a survivalist and a contract tracker (as the show's title suggests) who travels around the country and finds people for a living. While Colter's job is one of Tracker's cornerstones, it isn't its biggest draw, as showcased in season 1.

Playing the role of Vern Schillinger in HBO's Oz helped launch J.K. Simmons further up in his career, but the actor was not without his trepidation in taking on the part. Because Schillinger was especially dastardly, Simmons almost turned down the role, but he's now very grateful that he was involved with the show.
Created by Tom Fontana, Oz was a prison drama that aired on HBO for six seasons between 1997 and 2003. It featured an ensemble cast with a wide variety of actors playing dangerous criminals of every type, and Simmons' Schillinger served as the head of the prison's Aryan Brotherhood. In a career retrospective with GQ, Simmons addressed his Oz role, sharing how he was nervous about being typecast as Nazi characters if he agreed to play Schillinger. After a chat with Fontana, Simmons was intrigued by how the character was a bit more nuanced, and he ultimately signed on for the role.

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the small screen adaptation of 1980s movie “Weird Science,” which aired from 1994 – 1998 on the USA Network.
I probably sound like an old fogy when I say this, but the USA Network of the cable television heyday was drastically different than the USA Network we have today. Back in the early nineties, USA Network was a free for all of weird, fun entertainment. There were adult cartoons, erotic thrillers, “Up All Night,” sports events, a large Saturday morning cartoon line up, classic horror movies, Troma double bills, and there were even kung fu movies every weekday morning.
USA Network also aired the primetime TV series adaptation of “Weird Science.”
The classic John Hughes sci-fi comedy from 1985 was adapted in 1994 into a mostly faithful TV version that took everything scandalous about the original film and amped up the ridiculousness by about fifty percent.

Tracker star Justin Hartley claimed that Colter Shaw isn't ready for a relationship due to his job. Colter and Reenie have chemistry, but it may take a while for them to get together. Despite Colter's single status, future seasons may see him open up to romance.
It seems as though Justin Hartley's Colter Shaw doesn't have much time for romance in Tracker, and while I would love to see the protagonist start dating one character in particular, it makes sense why they can't be together (yet). The CBS action drama TV series, created by Ben H. Winters, is based on Jeffery Deaver's 2019 book The Never Game (which was followed by three more novels). Tracker centers around Colter, a survivalist and (as the show's name suggests) tracker who travels around the country, picking up jobs from law enforcement or private citizens to find missing people.

The 2000s was an interesting time for cinema. Let’s face it: it was an interesting time in general. In the realm of horror, the beginning of the aughts saw an influx of remakes of J-Horror – some bad, some pretty decent. However, with the post-9/11 cultural climate heightening anxieties and desensitization to violence due to real-world events, another genre emerged, tapping into the darker side of human nature. First coined by David Edelstein in a 2006 article in New York magazine, “torture porn” took the roots of exploitation and splatter films of the 70s and 80s and reintroduced the mainstream audiences to a new level of explicit brutality. Films like Saw, Hostel, The Devil’s Rejects, and the New Extremity of French Horror were raw and unapologetic looks at human depravity. It was everywhere. I mean, there was a time when you couldn’t go more than a year without having a Saw film.
