- Close friends with Joe Mantegna. The pair were friends for over 40 years.
- Received his Bachelor's degree in Theatre from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida (1993).

- He was awarded the 1977 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actor in a Principal Role in a Play for his performance in "Sizwe Banzi is Dead", at the Goodman Stage II Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
- Following his death, he was interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles, California.
- His mother Hertha Ward Taylor died on August 1, 2022 at the age of 108, having outlived him by eight years.
