Star Trek fans from around the globe are set to descend upon Las Vegas early next month for Creation Entertainment’s annual mega-convention. The event will take place from August 6-10 at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino. It’s essentially one-stop shopping for Star Trek fans, as Creation gathers together talent from across the entire franchise, from The Original Series to Strange New Worlds, from the animated shows to the live-action features, including actors, writers, producers, directors, stunt people, makeup artists, and more.
In recent years, Creation has started to welcome talent from other popular sci-fi franchises, including Galaxy Quest, Battlestar Galactica, and more. The 2025 event will be no exception. And that doesn’t even begin to touch on all the other activities within the event, among them photo ops, autographs, panels, costume contests, live staged readings, auctions, karaoke, parties, etc.

There’s nothing quite as illuminating as visiting a sci-fi conference and realizing that more than 5,000 model makers are in attendance. It was an eye-opener for actor/producer Nick Tate, who played the stalwart Alan Carter in TV’s Space: 1999 back in 1975. “I thought they wouldn't take any notice of me because they're so interested in the models, but I was overwhelmed with the reaction from these guys because they love the Eagle Transporter in the show, and they know that my character Alan Carter was the pilot. I was signing model Eagles, which was extraordinary to find yourself doing.”
Tate may be doing more of that in the near future, thanks to Jeffrey Morris. The filmmaker is diligently raising funds via Kickstarter to produce his much-anticipated documentary The Eagle Has Landed. The doc will feature interviews with Tate and co-star Barbara Bain, who played Dr. Helena Russell on the show,...

Brace yourself sci-fi fans. Space: 1999 is ready for another takeoff. Thanks to the valiant attempts of one filmmaker, a captivating documentary on the British-produced cult hit, which ran from 1975-1977, will find its way to the screen by 2025, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the show. But filmmaker Jeffrey Morris is putting a fabulous spin on the doc, honing the focus more on one of the stars of the series. Hint: It isn’t an actor. It’s a spaceship. In this case, the intrepid Eagle Transporter, which, like the U.S.S. Enterprise before it in Star Trek, captured viewers’ attention.
Morris’ Kickstarter campaign to fund a documentary, called The Eagle Has Landed, is gaining traction. The filmmaker was fascinated by the show when he first saw tuned in as a child back in 1975. Now, as an adult, he realized that he’s one of millions of fans who...

Kate Austen's (Evangeline Lilly) fugitive status on Flight 815 is a riveting mystery on Lost, and the reason behind her crime defines her character ac. Kate lived in Iowa with her mother Diane (Beth Broderick) and stepfather Sam (Lindsey Ginter) and when she ends up on the island, she doesn't tell anyone about her past. On the plane, Kate is seated next to a U.S. Marshall named Edward Mars (Fredric Lane) and it's clear that she's keeping a secret. She alludes to what happened while connecting with Jack Shepard (Matthew Fox) in season 1, and in season 2, episode 9, "What Kate Did," Kate's crime becomes evident through flashbacks.

"What's going on in this guy's head must be vast." Netflix has debuted a trailer for a new art documentary titled Struggle: The Life and Lost Art of Szukalski, a Searching for Sugar Man-esque story about a forgotten Polish artist, directed by Ireneusz "Irek" Dobrowolski. Don't know who this Szukalski is? That's the point of the film. The doc is about Polish painter and sculptor Stanisław Szukalski, an artist that not many people are familiar with. The story goes that in 1968, pop culture collector Glenn Bray discovered a book with his art. Then on a trip to a local bookstore, discovered that the artist was still alive, and lived near him. So he went to find him. The film is produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, and features narration by Nick Tate. This trailer is incredibly captivating, I'm already entirely sold on this. I need to hear his story! And learn more about him!

Born in Connecticut in 1924, Douglas trained as a pilot and served in the navy during World War II. He then trained as an actor, starting his radio career in the 1950s before moving into voiceover work full-time.

On the Internet, everything old is eventually new again. People stumble across bits of Web history and share them with folks who maybe missed them on the first go-round (or liked them so much that it’s nice just to see them again). It’s sort of like recycling, only more entertaining. Take, for instance, today’s video clip. Titled 5 Guys in a Limo, this vid first made the rounds back in 2008. Featuring five of Hollywood’s trailer voiceover kingpins (including the greatly missed Don Lafontaine) spouting off nearly every hoary movie trailer cliché you can think of, the video has a certain cheesy charm. If you ever wondered if guys like Al Chalk, John Leader, Nick Tate, Mark Elliot and Lafontaine took themselves as seriously as they seem to when narrating...

Back in the 1970s, Gerry and Sylvia Anderson created the syndicated sci-fi series Space:1999. Set some 25 years into the future, humans had established a research center on the moon and had been storing nuclear waste on the far side. After a massive explosion, the moon is ripped from Earth's orbit and sent hurtling through space. The 311 men and women that are trapped on Moonbase Alpha encounter strange aliens out in space as they search for a new planet to colonize and call home.
Space: 1999 ran for two seasons and stars Martin Landau and Barbara Bain, a then-married couple who'd worked together on from Mission: Impossible. Barry Morse co-starred on the first season and season two saw the addition of Catherine Schell and Tony Anholt. Other castmembers include Nick Tate, Zienia Merton, and Anton Phillips.

ITV Studios America and Hdfilms have announced plans for "Space: 2099", a contemporary re-imagination of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's classic 70's British sci-fi series "Space: 1999" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The original series follows the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha after a catastrophic accident involving nuclear waste from Earth knocks the Moon out of orbit and sends it hurtling uncontrollably into space. During their interstellar journey they encounter alien civilizations, dystopian societies, and mind-bending phenomena.
Martin Landau, Barbara Bain and Nick Tate starred in the series which ran for two seasons, the first dealing with more metaphysical themes and hints of a larger storyline while the second proved a more straightforward action series.
Hdfilms were behind ABC's recent revival of 80's sci-fi franchise "V" and Jace Hall will serve as executive producer. The project is still in development phase and has yet to be shopped to networks.
