Since 1975 nearly a thousand hosts have graced the stage at Studio 8H at Rockefeller Center for “Saturday Night Live.”
Actors, comedians, musicians and even politicians have taken the stage to make America laugh on Saturday night for 50 seasons. Twenty five of these hosts have been inducted into the “Five Timers Club.” The club was first introduced during Tom Hanks’ 1990 monologue, featuring Steve Martin, Elliott Gould and Paul Simon.
During Martin Short’s December 2024 appearance, several Five Timers Club members popped up on the show to welcome him into the club, including Emma Stone, Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Kristen Wiig and more, to give him the ceremonial robe.
Alec Baldwin has hosted the show 17 times, the most in the series’ history, with Martin, Hanks, Buck Henry and John Goodman following close behind.

Homer Jones, an electrifying wide receiver for the New York Giants who still holds the NFL record for career yards per reception at 22.3 yards, died Wednesday in Texas from lung cancer. He was 82.
Jones was the first player to “spike” the football after a touchdown. He reportedly did so after NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle threatened fines to players who threw the football into the stands.
Jones played college football and ran track at Texas Southern University and was drafted as the 278th pick in 1963 by the Houston Oilers. He was cut after a knee injury, but was picked up by the New York Giants. He went on to play seven years in the NFL, with the bulk of it with the Giants from 1964-69. Jones retired in 1971 after a season with the Cleveland Browns.

When you think of your typical “SNL” host, you probably imagine movie stars, television actors or music personalities. But did you know more than 30 athletes have hosted NBC’s late night sketch comedy series over the past five decades? As I was reading the Friday issue of The New York Times, my eyes fell upon this: “In ‘Lord of the Flies’ Remake, Girls Survive Instead.”
The film will be under Warner Bros.’ auspice and will be written and directed by Scott McGhee and David Siegel, who co-directed The Deep End (2001) and What Maisie Knew (2013). Two men. But that’s not what bothers me – although I’m sure others will certainly be bothered. On a business level, McGhee and Siegel were the ones who brought it to Warner Bros., so they certainly have the right to want to write and direct the film. It’s not too hard to connect the dots between professional football and prison, or between football and fine wine. It’s quite a bit harder to make a play for all three.
There is no shortage of star football players who have done a little time – or more – in the pokey. Conversely, some football folks have ventured into the field of wine. I’ll take football over prison and wine over either of those choices.
The Longest Yard has Burt Reynolds – himself a former college football player – as a prisoner who heads up the inmate football team in a contest against the guards, a game which is more than just a game to those on the field. It’s fantasy football with real consequences. These football heroes have numbers a lot longer than one or two digits; their football cards are mugshots.

With only one more episode left of the season, this was a very exciting week for Weeds!
Lately, I've found myself yearning for the glory days when Nancy just sold pot to her suburban neighbors. But this week provided everything I love about this show.
Throughout the entire half hour of "Fran Tarkenton, I got that sickening feeling that everything will not be okay.
This is Nancy, for goodness sake. One constant throughout the seasons that have gone by would be her ability to mess up everything in her life and not even acknowledge that she is the problem.
During the episode, Nancy tries to lie to the reporter about her reasons for running away, but this guy is good. He nails it saying that he believes Shane killed Pillar. Does she tell him the truth? Doubtful, but she does eventually sit down and go on record for the cash.
