Writer born in Guadalupe (Mexico) in 1915, but moved to Madrid in his adolescence. He became known with the Adonais Poetry Award he received in 1943 for his work 'Man Age', sharing it with Vicente Gaos and Alfonso Moreno.

In the late forties, he won with 'The Last Hours' Nadal Prize. This novel marks, with "The Hive" by Camilo José Cela and 'La Noria' by Luis Romero, the starting point for a new stage in the Spanish social narrative. The critics were unanimous in their praise to 'personal process', novel published in 1955. With his play 'Damned' got the "Lope de Vega" theater award in 1951. Personally, he participated in 1956, with Joaquín Ruiz Gimenez, in the founding of the Party of Democratic Action.
