Author and lyricist Stanley Herbert Styne was the son of Jule Styne and was educated at the University of Southern California. He was a contact representative for music publishers from 1950 to 1953, and between 1951 to 1953 he was a stage manager for several Broadway musicals. By 1954 he was an associate producer for CBS-TV, and the following year until 1962 he was a publicity director for Columbia Pictures' Record Division, also writing special material for television, films and industrial shows. Joining ASCAP in 1956, his chief musical collaborators included George Duning, Robert Allen, Neal Hefti, Donald Kahn, Fred Karger as well as his father. His popular-song compositions include "Wild About That Girl", "Blue Bells", "Beautiful Friendship", "The Silent Treatment", "My Memory Book", "What Gives? What Goes?", "Stay There, Stay There", "This Is Kim", "Our Man in Havana", "Ma Petite", "Cute", "Cry For Happy", and "Peace Is Our Profession", the official song of the Strategic Air Command.
