Alexander Stuart has worked with Angelina Jolie, Jodie Foster, Kiefer Sutherland and Danny Boyle - on movies including Jonathan Glazer's Under The Skin, starring Scarlett Johansson; Nicolas Roeg's Insignificance, starring Theresa Russell, Gary Busey and Tony Curtis; and Tim Roth's film of Stuart's acclaimed novel, The War Zone, starring Tilda Swinton, Lara Belmont, Freddie Cunliffe and Ray Winstone.

Stuart has worked with high profile producers such as Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Bill Mechanic, Paul Webster and Nick Wechsler, at studios including Warner Bros, Paramount, Universal, Industry Entertainment, Film4 and numerous independents.

His screenplays include adaptations of Michael Faber's Under The Skin, starring Scarlett Johansson; Whiteout, starring Kate Beckinsale; Bill Buford's Among The Thugs, for Kiefer Sutherland; Toby Barlow's Sharp Teeth; Keith Scribner's The GoodLife and Agatha Christie's Ordeal By Innocence, starring Donald Sutherland and Faye Dunaway.

Stuart's non-fiction book about Florida, Life On Mars, became a two-hour television documentary, called The End of America.

His novels, non-fiction and children's books have been published in eight languages around the world. Stuart lives in California, is a US citizen, a proud WGAWest member, a devoted father and a British-born Buddhist.

        Stuart's novel, The War Zone, was awarded the Whitbread Prize for Best Novel in 1989, only to have the award withdrawn before the prize giving ceremony amid controversy involving one dissenting judge.

        Once my son was diagnosed with cancer, I had this huge amount of pain and anger about how this could happen to the child I loved so much. And I definitely directed that into The War Zone. I wrote it differently than anything I've written. I would rush back to the house while he was in chemotherapy and just write for two hours. I almost felt as if I were channeling it.
