Roy Thomas Baker Dies: Producer On ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ & Other Classics Was 78
Image
Roy Thomas Baker, the prolific producer who worked with the likes of Queen, The Cars, David Bowie, Devo, Journey and The Smashing Pumpkins, has died according to The New York Times. He was 78.

Baker is best known for his work on one of rock’s greatest and most enduring anthems: Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The sprawling operatic song proved a challenge to record, especially given the technology of the time. Baker and the band had to transfer the tune’s many overlapping tracks across eight generations of 24-track tape, which required close to 200 tracks for overdubs.

“We had to record it in three separate units,” Baker later recalled. “We did the whole beginning bit, then the whole middle bit and then the whole end. It was complete madness. The middle part started off being just a couple of seconds, but Freddie kept coming in with more ‘Galileos’ and we kept...

Did Priscilla Presley Really Leave Elvis For A Karate Instructor? The Kings Of Tupelo Parallel Explained
Image
Netflix’s The Kings Of Tupelo documentary series takes place at Elvis Presley’s birthplace, and there’s a reference to Priscilla Presley’s relationship with a karate instructor – but is that true? The three-episode docuseries The Kings Of Tupelo takes viewers to the town of Tupelo, Mississippi, home to lots of Elvis Presley fans and impersonators. The series mostly focuses on Paul Kevin Curtis, a successful Elvis impersonator born and raised in Tupelo, who ended up involved in a scandal about poisoned letters sent to politicians, including President Obama.

The Kings Of Tupelo takes a turn as Kevin Curtis is framed, and the real mind behind the poisoned letters was Everett Dutschke, a local politician. Dutschke and Kevin’s rivalry had been building up and peaked with the letters and Kevin’s framing, but there was a lot going on between these two. While the documentary explores how their...

Robert Stack in Les enquêtes extraordinaires (1987)
Unsolved Mysteries (1987-1999): Gone But Not Forgotten
Robert Stack in Les enquêtes extraordinaires (1987)
True Crime is a part of everyday media that the TV series, specials, films, and documentaries all about it have been around forever. But actually, that’s not the case. The format we now see, wasn’t the norm at all in the 80s when Unsolved Mysteries began its iconic run. A weekly series built around cases and interviews with the people who were a part of them, re-enacting the crimes…had never been done before.

But then one day a series came along that would not only showcase True Crime but would also give us ghosts, UFOs, and all points in between. Not only that, but the theme song would cause Ptsd in most kids my age who had the fortune or misfortune to hear it. That series is Unsolved Mysteries, a series so popular that it changed not only pop culture but the way investigations within law enforcement were conducted.

Why Priscilla Presley Never Remarried After Elvis
Image
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Priscilla

Priscilla Presley never remarried after Elvis because she believed no one could ever match him, and she didn't think Elvis would be able to handle it. Priscilla had multiple relationships after divorcing Elvis, including affairs with a dance instructor and a karate teacher, dating a lawyer, actor, and producer. Priscilla's longest relationship was with Marco Garibaldi, lasting over two decades, and their relationship was kept mostly private unlike her relationship with Elvis.

Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla detailed the life of Priscilla Presley and her highly publicized relationship with the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. The biopic has garnered a lot of attention, and it spans the years Priscilla was with Elvis, from their first meeting when she was 14 years old in 1959 to their divorce in 1973. The film’s scope, however, doesn’t cover what happened to Priscilla Presley after she left Elvis,...

Priscilla's 8 Biggest Changes To Priscilla Presley's Book
Image
Warning: This post contains major spoilers for Priscilla

Priscilla Presley's affairs before divorcing Elvis were left out of the biopic, but they played a role in her decision to leave him. Priscilla briefly lived with Elvis' father and stepmother before moving into Graceland, contrary to what the film portrays. Elvis proposed to Priscilla under pressure from his manager, but he had hesitations and even considered hiring a hitman to kill Priscilla's lover.

With so many movies made about Elvis Presley, writer-director Sofia Coppola went in another direction with Priscilla; and though it’s based on Priscilla Presley’s memoir Elvis and Me, the biopic doesn’t include every detail from the book. Priscilla is focused on the subject’s years with Elvis, better known as the King of Rock and Roll. Coppola brings Priscilla’s life to the big screen and includes much of what the actress included in her memoir — but not everything.

What Happened To Priscilla Presley After The Movie & Divorcing Elvis
Image
The upcoming film "Priscilla" focuses on Elvis Presley's ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, and is based on her memoir "Elvis and Me." Priscilla and Elvis were married for six years before they separated in 1972 and officially divorced in 1973. Priscilla Presley has had a successful acting career after her divorce from Elvis and is most known for her role in the TV series "Dallas."

Numerous biographical films depict the life of Elvis Presley, but Priscilla shifts its focus to his ex-wife, Priscilla Presley (née Beaulieu). The 2023 drama, which premieres in theaters everywhere on November 3, is based on Priscilla's 1985 memoir Elvis and Me, and Priscilla herself was very involved in the making of the movie. So, it might be safe to assume that the film will be an as-close-as-possible depiction of Priscilla's life with the King of Rock and Roll. But her story was truly just beginning after she separated from Elvis.

Netflix’s Fubar is Far From Arnold Schwarzenegger’s First TV Role
Image
The role of retired CIA operative Luke Brunner in Netflix’s Fubar is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “first TV role ever” in the same way that this is my first McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Hobnob of the day – it absolutely isn’t but if it makes us all happier to lie to ourselves then why not?

Early press for action-comedy series Fubar has made much of the coup of Netflix bagging Schwarzenegger for television. At last! The Governator is “set to make his TV series debut” says The Hollywood Reporter. This marks the action icon’s “first ever television series”, says Collider. Science has finally figured out how to make TV screens wide enough to accommodate the Hollywood star’s mighty girth, and now we’ve got him. Never mind that Arnie’s been muscling around on television since 1974.

Granted, Fubar marks Schwarzenegger’s first lead role in a scripted and...
